Arabian Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 That's Luana Alonso representing Paraguay, she was kicked out of the athletes village for 'inappropriate conduct'. However, she denied any wrongdoing. Anyhow, she announced her retirement. Seems like one of those Instagram athletes.

That is a strong accusation. I refuse to believe it without evidence. You know, irrefutable evidence, like, say a video of said behavior. Anyone have a link to such a video? 3
Popular Post RDB Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 Come on. Simone Biles. The greatest gymnast ever. Extraordinary, inspiring personal story, and a beautiful, emotionally engaging performer. If you’re not moved watching her fly through the air, then you’re missing something! 7
Popular Post JohnS Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 My favourite athlete of the 2024 Paris Olympics? That's easy...Saya Sakakibara. She fell off her bike at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, then had another fall within the same year and considered giving away the sport due to ongoing issues she was having with those concussions. Furthermore, her brother Kai, who also rode BMX as a professional sportsman, was forced to retire after a fall on his head at a 2020 World Cup event which put him in a coma for 2 months and made him have to learn how to walk and talk from scratch. Saya's gold medal win had me in tears. She had her fair share of emotional setbacks in pursuing her dream and she overcame those significant stumbling blocks. A true champion! 9 1

But because she was laughing so hard last week, my wife had to share with me that she sent a picture of that one to my daughter in California; and my daughter's response was simply "God damn!" 2 1
Popular Post MagicalBikeRide Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 I love a good comeback story. After dropping the baton in Budapest, Femke Bol’s closing leg in the mixed 400m final has her top of my list. 7

ayedfy Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Maddi Levi. I don't care that the girls choked in the medal matches after dominating all year. She smashed Woodman-Wickliffe's impressive record for tries in an Olympic games, and because my daughter is also called Maddie, Levi is now her hero and inspired her to throw a ball around with the old man. Thank you Ms Levi. 4
gormag38 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 As for my favorite Olympian so far.....gotta be Poland's Ewa Swoboda. Some may say she looks like a certain actress of poorly acted movies. 1 1
joeypots Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Sydney vs Femke run in the e400 meter high hurdles today. The winner will be my favorite athlete of this Olympics. I don’t know why I like the hurdles best butI do. 2
chasy Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 The Turkish shooter is unreal. Biles defies physics. Hocker gave two egotistical runners a large piece of humble pie. The French pole vaulter whose large Johnson clipped the bar and caused him to lose but made him a very eligible bachelor. The girl from Alaska who took training wheels off last week and won the cycling event. The American pommel horse guy that is massively nerdy and a gold medalist. Cuban wrestler who doesn’t age. So many good stories. 1

Cole Hocker's 1500 meter gold medal winning race has been the best event for me, so far. He beat the reigning Olympic champion and the reigning world champion. The two champions had been having a war of words for months that went public. During the entire pre-race buildup and race call itself, Hocker got almost no mention short of his pre-race introduction that's given to all the participants, until the final turn. Hocker came from way, way back in the pack. He blew by everyone but the frontrunners, then down the final stretch got boxed out on the inside and had to slow down. Still, he mounted another all out sprint, slipped through this time on the inside, and nipped the world champion at the finish. Tremendous, spirited competition for one of the most iconic track and field events of them all, and won by a largely unheralded athlete giving his all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sb32uxUO10 2
Popular Post BlueWS Posted August 8, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2024 Gabby Thomas. I love her running form. She's worked her way to the top. She wasn't even a track star in high school. She went to Harvard based on her academics and picked up track as an undergrad. She's earned everything she has and she'll be back for more. 6
