Popular Post Pvalue83 Posted July 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2024 Hello everyone, It was a beautiful summer evening in New York so I decided to indulge in a Davidoff Double R, bought from the Davidoff store on Madison ave in September ‘23. My experience with Davidoff’s is mostly with Signature no. 2’s which are (in my opinion) a fantastic introduction to non-Cuban cigars, very reliable, versatile and don’t punch you in the face. I am sure it must’ve been discussed a million times here before but I was asking the Davidoff store guy about whether his customers deliberately age their signature no. 2 cigars. He recommended against it saying they weren’t ‘strong enough’ to benefit from aging. FWIW a) I am in the camp that disputes ‘needs to be strong to be a candidate to age’ but that’s cool - plenty of room for different opinions and I did buy a box of signature no. 2’s which will take me quite a few years to go through so I guess I will just have to find out right? But I digress…. For me, the flavor profile was mostly what I would have expected. Classic Davidoff profile of cedar, savoury complexity, some nutty flavors and cream. Paired very well with some Schramsberg Blanc de Noir from 2018. The construction and burn line was exactly as one would expect from a Davidoff - i.e. out of this world. I was a little surprised at the strength (medium plus - maybe more) as I was expecting a light/medium and the retro had a little more pepper than I like, but all in all, it was a very nice 2 hours. A lovely way to bring in the weekend - I hope everyone else’s is just as nice and relaxing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 10
Chitmo Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Signature #2 is a top 5 cigar for me, not strong but full of flavour. 1
loose_axle Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Love Sig#2 as a morning smoke. I've got some that have been aged 4 years now and they just keep getting better. 1
