El Presidente Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I need to settle a bet Scenario You are over at my place and we have a few hours to catch up and smoke a cigar. I offer you a choice of two cigars. H. Upmann Sir Winston 2018. Cohiba Esplendido 2018 Which are you reaching for?
Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted July 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2024 Love both but I'm taking the Espy. It's my favourite Cohiba and IMO its' true flagship cigar. 5
NSXCIGAR Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 2018, that's a coin flip for me. I might go with the SW. 2014 I'm taking the Esplendidos every time. Cohiba just hasn't been that impressive in the last 10 years for me to put it above another quality cigar, especially in the 2017-2022 range. 2
gormag38 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I chose the Espy mainly due to the fact that it's a 2018. If both had say 10+ years down I'd probably go with SW, but it'd be a damn close call. 1
Chibearsv Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Tremendous bias on my part toward Espy. Whether I factor year into it or factory code, doesn't matter...Espy wins. After a long time smoking Monte 2 and RyJ Churchills, my first Espy was a mind blowing experience and every one I've had has reminded me of that...whether the experience is the same or not. 2
Grimlock Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I voted Espy because I've never had one. That being said, SW is in my top 3 CC so if it were any other Churchill or DC it would be SW.
Monterey Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Sir Winston is one fine cigar, top 10 for sure. It is also the most over hyped cigar.I swear people think it is some 'god-like' cigar willing to pay crazy amounts for it. Seriously, Winston over an Espy?? 1
LLC Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Love the Winnie but taking the Espy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
chasy Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Haven’t had the privilege - would gladly accept either!
JoeyBones777 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 The Sir Winston! I haven't had many Cohibas but the ones I have had weren't very impressive to me. The Esplendido is one of the better Cohibas I had but not nearly as good as the Sir Winston.
JohnS Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I quite like the H.Upmann Sir Winston, but I'd still take the Cohiba Esplendidos. 4
cigaraholic Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I don’t believe there were Sir Winston’s made in 2018.

Jaks93 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I would be happy with either of them but the Esplendido would probably take the crown.
Ford2112 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I picked Sir Winston just to spite Cohiba. But really I'd take either one equally. 2
loose_axle Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Would go the Esplendidos. Haven't had the SW but H.Upmann whilst nice, isn't a favourite, so I'll go with what's familiar. 1

If both are at their best of course I go with Esplendidos but my experience with 17-21 Cohiba is very disappointing. I think the SW is more reliable in that date range. 1

The one Cohiba I've had that I enjoyed was a fresh CoRo and it was a top 5 experience. I can imagine if an Espy was on and aged it would likely be top 3.
Chitmo Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 If I have to pay for them I’m not smoking either! 🤣 1
joeypots Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I’m a Cohiba whore. Espy all day long and I’ve smoked a lot more Winnies than Espys. 3
Gamehawker Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Sir Winnie because H Upmann is my favorite line of Cuban cigars and I am a whore for them. 1
jazzboypro Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I've had many Esplendido but only 2 Sir Winston so I think I would go for the Sir Winston.
