Popular Post ChangBang Posted July 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2024 My first and only BR win so far- a box of Cohiba Siglo 3s! I see the forum post with the most expensive cigar that was worth it? For me, it's the Siglo 3! And that's when they were $20 each. Even at $45 each, I think they're so consistently good that I'm still fine with that. I have 3 boxes now so I need to ration them out haha. Following the vacuum sealing thread to see if I can't stretch these 3 boxes to last me another 30 years. Anyway, this particular cigar was "damaged" where the foot has a crack. Since I'm smoking it, I don't really care as it doesn't affect the smoking experience at all. But gave me a good excuse to smoke this one haha. Right off the bat I get that citrus dark tobacco note. The citrus is still a little muddled but eventually changes into a lemon-y note an inch or two in. In the past I've gotten lemongrass consistently, but this one doesn't really have the grassy note which is nice and almost preferable! The dark tobacco note I think would equate to maybe a dark roast coffee or a dark...bread? Maybe dark chocolate? Hard to say, maybe next time I need some strong espresso and dark chocolate to figure it out! I'm still trying to figure out what my "dark tobacco" really is. So it doesn't really change or evolve very much - I guess the lemon/citrus note does get fainter where the darker tobacco note strengths. Still delicious and enjoyable! Even though the cigar is only 2.5ish years old - no edges and no harshness. I retrohaled this entire cigar and it was smooth as can be! This is a 7.5/10(excellent to amazing) I'd prefer the citrus-y lemon note to stick around the whole time, but man this was really good! 11
RDB Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 If you are getting that citrus note off a relatively young and dark Cohiba, then you should be in good shape for the future. As they age, the darker notes are likely to recede and the mellow sweetness comes more centre stage. I’d say put em away, or maybe smoke one a year to check in. 1

Yup, very impressed that I was able to get the citrus notes and lots of flavor with a younger cigar! I've had older ones before and I agree that the darker notes get replaced with a more lemongrass-y and tea note. Super happy with this box so far, can't wait to see how they age.
