The most expensive cigar you have smoked that you thought was worth every dollar you paid?

This question was asked of me earlier this week.  Passing it now onto you :lol3:

Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva 2003 I think I paid retail $110 USD equivalent while in HK at the time. Worth every cent as it is still one of the finest cigars that I have every smoked.

The Padrón 50th Anniversary. Paid $45 USD and would not hesitate to purchase more. This coming from someone who mostly smokes Cuban cigars.

$72 Bushido. I think I’ve got the bottom row remaining. Fantastic cigar. Mahalo to an FOHer for turning me on to them. 😁

Monte Maltes, paid just above $30. Yes I know that's nothing for today's pricing or even historically in certain countries but as an American we had the privilege of $10CoRos and $35 BHK's. The Maltes was a fantastic cigar, mind blowing in fact. The next two were the same and I thought, well they will be even better with some age...3 years later and they are, well, let's just say disappointing in every respect.

With current pricing I added another column to my cigar notes, yes or no with the current price to gauge if/when to repurchase. 90% of my CC's have received a no, and roughly 50% of NC's have received a yes.

In 2018, I paid ~$40USD for an aged single Siglo V (maybe 15 years or so). It was out of this world good. If only I had a time machine…

The most I’ve ever spent and have it worth it is a hard question. I've never actually spent a ton on them until recently (Thanks Hong Kong), but even back in 2011 B&Ms were expensive here in Canada. I think I paid around $50 for a CoRo to celebrate getting home from a deployment. I’ll put a reminder in the calendar and let you know if any of the recent boxes were worth it in 5-8 years. 😂

One of the best cigars I’ve ever smoked was a VSG Estate Reserve. At the time I think I purchased a 10 pack for something like $40 per cigar.  That was a pretty incredible sum back then. When Cohiba Robustos, for example, could be had for close to $10.  (Really it was the Fuente humidor releases that paved the way for the insanity we see today).

Ditto

I was a participant in a group that purchased the whole line up and I was allocated 5 of them. Those Ashton VSG Estate Reserve were the most amazing cigars that I have ever smoked and that includes some original release of the Cohiba Silgo VI in 2003 that I have smoked.

1970 Davidoff No 1. Paid $110USD in 2011. The most unique and exceptional cigar experience ever for me. From first puff to nub, a taste journey. Very complex, bold, and dynamic. CGR is my runner up. That was worth the price and hype. No other GR since has come close IMO. I've only smoked up to the PGR FWIW.

That cigar is in my all time top 5. It sings for me.

Padron 1926 80 Years Maduro original release. I smoked one the year they came out with a buddy of mine. We paid $30. In addition to the rich cocoa, coffee, earth and pepper flavors Padron Anniversary cigars are known for, there was a vibrant orange zest flavor note and aroma that would pop in at different points of the cigar. It was unexpected and distinct, as if, someone tested an orange right in my face. A top 3 cigar experience for me. Actually, probably the only cigar to top it would be a 2012 Monte 2 I smoked in 2017.

For me it would be a Monte A, 250 euros the 5 count box back in 2020 so 50 euros a cigar. I smoked one for my 40th birthday and what a journey it has been 😍

It doesn't seem that expensive now...

In 2003, a Siglo III that I bought in Canada at a club and so it cost about $30. Still that one cigar is perhaps my favorite cigar I’ve ever smoked.

I had a few great cigars in the last year or so. La Escepcion Regional Italy, is one, another the 2020 Diplomaticos Asia Regional, more recently QoD Baalbeck, Sancho Panza El Rey Asia Regional. These were all $120++ and outstanding cigars. One more on my list is a Bolivar Coronas Grandes, which I hope to sample soon, about $150/stick, not sure if it's worth it tbh but hey, not many around and finding loose sticks is even rarer. I always regret not trying an aged VR Don Alejandro, they were selling for $100/stick at the local lounge which is a lot of money, but they looked like they could be incredible. Long story short, Montecristo 2014 Double Edmundo 2 years ago at $35 was worth every penny. La Escepcion was the best though and on my top list.

I think this is a very open ended question.

1- Special Release: Cuaba Biaray $300 worth every cent

2- Limited Edition: Cohiba 55 $330 very strong as it was fresh  waiting for it to mellow down

3- Regional Release: RA Private stock $110 outstanding stick

4- Zodiac: Cohiba Siglo d’oro $180. It reminds me of the 1966 albeit fatter and shorter

5- Regular Production: Cohiba Piramides extra $120. I think there could be better cigars for that price

Lol I can't play this game because the most expensive stick I have bought and smoked, back in 2021, at 65£ was a Talisman (17). Great cigar. But I didn't feel it was worth it because of that cost!

I've an RA 230 at 85£ and I begrudge that too already having not even smoked it yet.

So you see this sort of game doesn't work for me 😁
