Lunettesman Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hi everyone, I recently bought, about 6 months ago, 4 jars from my Habano specialist (Torreon, Siglo 6, HU46 and Partagas P1) who was kind enough to let me buy some items from his secret stash. When I bought them, they were still sealed, so I opened them, and they smelled like, I would say, old shoes. So, a bit of a musty smell. Exactly what you can expect from a closed jar 17 years old. Nonetheless they looked splendid. Especially the Siglo 6 with a dark rich wrapper. Then, for more or less 6 months, I regularly opened these jars to let the smell change, but it wasn't going fast enough for my liking. Unfortunately, when it's not going fast enough, we try to make it go faster. Except that was a bad idea, because I had the idea to take them out of the jar, put them in my raching as loose single on top of the boxes and two jars, the HU 46 and the Toreon, unfortunately were placed in front of a fan. As a result, they got a bit roughened up. Now, the wrapper is very fragile, brittle. The cigar itself is perfectly well humidified. However, the wrapper has small ripples on it, and I consider it damaged. Fortunately, the Siglo 6 and the Partagas were not placed in front of a fan and they look amazing. So, here is my question, what should I do with these cigars whose wrappers are damaged and brittle? Obviously they are now out in my ready to smoke humidor without fans.
