Daily Nature View

I was walking around today and had a great view. I live in the the middle of nowhere in the midwestern US.  We have a medium sized river, and the view is where it splits and a small part of it goes here to the backside of this island. I’ve seen this view a bunch and hiked this island as a kid, but it’s not really well known. I’m certain we all know places like this. 
 

It just made me think of how many places people probably dive by daily and don’t even realize how amazing it is.

I miss the Midwest. I never bothered to travel to other states when I used to live there. And remember Kansas BBQ is better than southern BBQ.

Yeah I recall you lived in KC area for a while. That's where Im from. Plenty of good "Q" around here!

I'm sure they still talk about the EF5 that hit Joplin in May 2011 if they were living in the area at the time.

Just took a boat ride up a river/creek that my wife and I drive by/across almost daily, was an entirely different view from the bottom.

My cousin Paul and his wife had the kids in a closet. They sat in front of the door. The tornado spared them but leveled the neighborhood a few blocks over.

I knew people that were down there at the time. Unreal what happened. The emergency tornado alarms were not activated if I recall correctly.

They didn't have much warning on a mile wide rain wrapped monster.

Midwestern summers are the best. This was my view for the past 11 days. My 3 year old daughter caught her first fish!  Sadly back to the gulag tomorrow..

Hopefully hooked for life! I remember the first Northern Pike I caught at our place in northern MN. I was 5 or so. Been fishing hard ever since!
