The question has come about by Lai's post in the EAR thread.

How many members here are active on FB?  Active = you engage at least once per month.

Much less frequently than say 10 years ago, but still check daily. In fact I just used the messaging app to contact an old friend from high school re: help on a place to stay in Portland next month. (I already triangulated the best lounges, just looking for some local street knowledge)

I am a member of a few FB technical groups related to amateur radio so I do post in those groups from time to time, I don't pay much attention to the rest.

I try to stay away, as it's become such a polarizing world. I truly only use it to check in on family in other parts of the world nowadays, and even that has slowed down and being replaced with WhatsApp and other such video/messaging apps.

I’ve found reading comments on public posts in social media to be the most depressing thing in the world. I tapped out of that nonsense years ago!

I'm in a few bourbon and cigar groups but that is the extent of my use. I am not the one to share every thing I do on a daily basis like some people on my "friends" list.

Dana has an account. I check it often but never engage. We love it for the cigar and travel groups. We join whatever groups are pertinent to our upcoming travels IE: we’re now following Ireland groups. Great to get advice on bars/restaurants ect. In anticipation for September travel.

It’s also fun to keep up with friends/family on travel and such. I scroll past any political or complainer B.S.

You're going to Ireland? I'll give you the same advice I gave Smithy when he went. When you walk into an Irish pub, greet everyone with a hearty, "Póg mo thóin! (pogue mahone)". :P

Active, but I think there’s a spectrum of engagement. I utilize private township groups for local news and contractor recs and my gym has a private group for news/coaching/wods. I consume a bit and contribute rarely.

I'm only on there for marketplace.

FOH is the closest thing I got to social media. 😂

Same here 😉

I assume most of you have already seen this photo but how would one trust someone who does this to his laptop...

I quit FB in the mid 2000s but got sucked back in because that's where a large amount of whisky and cigar groups and content is.

I'd love for there to be an alternative so I can delete it again.

I post pictures of my work and I was the moderator of a ski club group. Social media has its uses, I’ve derived a lot of benefit from it but I try to keep personal stuff off of it.
