benfica_77 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Gents as the title states if I have a smoke after dinner I find I have terrible sleep. Yes I can get myself pickled and pass out but mid week and a small child that's not an option. I think its the nicotine being a bit of a stimulant...
NSXCIGAR Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I'm definitely not the guy to ask. I'm smoking and drinking coffee up to 90 mins before going to bed. 3

Stop smoking and drinking!! Geez, the youth these days... 7
westg Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 One thing I have noticed is that if I smoke something non-Cuban while I am away at work during the evenings, I wake up feeling as if I am hungover. It is just the Cuban the cigar gods punishing me. I am now well aware of this simple fact. Keep it clean and you will rest easy. 😎🌴 1
KCCubano Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I've been falling asleep with a mouthful of Skoal Longcut for 40 yrs. Guess I am used to it!

No great insight there Some are more susceptible than others. My accountant Artie has three cigars a night ....and two bowls of icecream...he sleeps like a baby...2am to 7am. He doesn't drink, but doing Ken's taxes last week almost turned him 🙄 Others on our deck crew can't have a cigar after 5pm or they are awake until 3am unless they add a bottle of wine. I would question their sleep quality however. 5
vvvendo1969 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Everytime when I smoke a cigar after dinner, I have many kinds of nightmares. Without a cigar before sleep, I never have a bad dream. Therefore this phenomena must be caused by nicotine, I think. But I do not care about it at all. I enjoy a nightmare after a cigar. ^o^ 1
Chitmo Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I would consider knowing such things about yourself a win and just take it for what it is. Even if for some reason you can train yourself to smoke in the evening then you’ll no doubt make other changes to your body that you can’t plan for and potentially will not enjoy. Nothing is free, there’s always a give and take. 1

sdlaird Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 A good shower before bed is the best thing you can do. It gets the smoke out of your hair and off your hands, cleans out sinuses that might be irritated. We all love cigars. When I'm in the zone, cooking up ribs or watching a game on the patio, I'll have 2-4 in an afternoon evening. But when I'm done, I'm done and don't want stale cigar sticking to me. I have a beard so maybe that's what bothers me, but a good shower always helps me. 1
