Wrapper: light medium brown, smooth / very finely toothed, with little sheen Draw: very good, with a very good burn, and good smoke volume. Taste: In one word - rich. It started with a light creaminess, with distinct overtones of walnuts. The smoke had a mouthcoating, velvet texture - really smooth. After an inch or so, it settled into a flavor of full, very rich tobacco. While at first I considered this one light in body, it's deceptive richness (can I say rich again?) make it medium-full. Just a great cigar. *Side note - I've been trying some different corona gordas recently, and have been impressed with the quality of all of them. My thanks to our hosts for choosing some fine examples of each.

josie67 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Excellent review. This is my (and my wife's) absolute favorite corona gorda. Both of us always seem to detect a nice subtle sweetness in that cigar.

I » wonder if mine were too old..LOL!!:-P Alex, I bought a few singles, so I don't have dates, but I have to assume they're recent - '04 or '05 I have another to try, and if it's like the first, a box will be a must.

ahbroody Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Didnt want to start a new thread, so I figured I would bump this one. Currently looking into buying either a box of these or the JL #1. Can anyone advise how the current production RyJ#3 are smoking. These really seem to live in the shadows on most of the boards. Would I just be better sticking with the RyJ Short Churchills?
shrink Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks for bringing this excellent CG to our attention. It flies way under the radar. I like this cigar much more than the Ex#4, and it has the stuff to age even better.

They have been excellent, and a nice change from the Punch & Hoyo Epi 1, all three of recent production have been great IMO. Not a big robusto fan, so no thoughts on the RyJ SC.

Was not overly impressed by the #4 and did prefer the Short Church more. I have been really into the CGs lately, but have found these RyJ CGs to be elusive with many vendors who ship to where I live. I am not sure if they are produced in fewer numbers or if the price point on these tends to deter some from buying so they dont bother to carry them or if they fell out of favor do to a bad production run. Glad to have found singles that I can try here. This by all accounts I can find appears to be quiet different then the #4 which is a little suprising. I like the idea that this stick is built for the long haul and will age well. Not a huge fan of robustos and thats why I am trying to find something besides the short churchill. How do you request a video review of these? Would love see the guys do a review of these to get multiple peoples impression.
