Johnnies but Portillos and Al’s are certainly contenders. No Al’s in the suburbs. Truth is, there’s a ton of places to get a good beef anywhere around here. 😁

I used to work near Elmhurst. Put down many Portillo's Italian Beef and Sausage combo's at the one on Lake St in Addison. Good stuff

Al Pastor tacos from Leo’s taco truck in Los Angeles. I don’t live there but I always have to get some Leo’s when I visit. Simple taco and was cheap at least the last time I was there. Photo taken from their instagram.

Cheap, quick and easy street meal in Hong Kong for me is Char Siu Siu Yuk Fan (bbq pork & crispy roasted pork belly with rice). Just bought this one for lunch for $36HKD which is just under $5USD.

I miss cai fan (quick translate - economy rice) when I was in HK and Malaysia/Singapore. Not exactly economy here in Aus, as the usual price for something similar is around AUD20.

For those not in the know, cai fan is like a buffet in that you choose the items you want, but you pay for each selection. Items can be cheap (like a tofu dish) or expensive (any seafood). It is a cheap but filling meal for those in a hurry or on a budget.

Coddle - a Dublin tradition and I’m yet to find it anywhere else. Effectively a pork stew - sausages, pork ribs, hock, onions, spuds, etc.

Found a video of the pub beside my house (from which pic above is taken 😂)

Italian beef with sweet peppers and hot giardinara. Great sandwich!

Love a hot Italian beef with that specific giardinara and gravy dip. The giardinara with cauliflower is clearly inferior. In fact, you gave me the itch. im going to hit up my local Chicago joint for lunch today.

....this is not our country's finest moment

“Australian pig in a blanket” or “devon roll”, which features mashed potato and onion stuffed into a piece of devon (otherwise known as stras) and held together with a tooth pick

I could do this.
