VeguerosMAN Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Perfect timing, I would say for Drew Estate and JDN to capture market share from Habanos in Spain.
Fireball Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 It’ll be interesting to see CCs and NWs go head to head.
Jimmy2 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 CC will have to drop prices soon or the near future. I think once NC are really pushed in Europe and other parts of the world the cost is much cheaper and will attract new costumers. Most can’t afford there favorite CC’s these days. They will be forced to buy something cheaper in cost but are still quality product. There will be new competition and the Cost of CC’s have brought this on. They did this to themselves. 1

CC's are indeed going head to head with NC's in most European and Asian markets. They have done so for neigh on four years. Of course, many of the big names have done so for over a decade and have succeeded. It has been a mixed bag for the newer (ish) entrants. To generalise, not all NC tastes are suited to a European, Middle Eastern or Asian market brought up on Cuban cigars. Many of these are newer entrants have brought out or are bringing out lines that tailor more to these specific tastes. Some will succeed, others won't. The biggest issue at a B&M level in these markets is Taxation/Duties. A good NC Robusto carries the same Taxation/Duties as a Partagas Serie D4 or RASS. The sticker price on the shelf may end up being only $10-15 cheaper. That may sound like a lot but in the end we are talking the difference between a $40 NC cigar and a $55 cigar. That is where the struggle is at the retail B&M level. Of course what is helping NC stocks is that often once favourite CC cigar is not available and folk are trying the NC. That is a good thing in my eyes. 7
Marco_011t556 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 "The biggest issue at a B&M level in these markets is Taxation/Duties" this is really true, especially for those countries taxed by weight.
Hoshneer Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 This is great news, they killed it at the show this year and the new Medio Siglo Selection B was tasty.

BrightonCorgi Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Joya de Nicaragua should do real well in Spain and is a brilliant move. I like their cigars, but they pack a punch! Glad to see these manufacturers taking the offensive instead of playing 2nd fiddle to Habanos. 1
