JohnS Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Just as we've become accustomed to Habanos cigars rising in price over the last two years, come news from HalfWheel this week that some Non-Cuban manufacturers (i.e. Rockey Patel and All Saints Cigars) are now reducing the price on their lines. Read on... ROCKY PATEL REDUCING PRICES OF SOME VINTAGE LINES MAY 14, 2024 - CHARLIE MINATO Most of the time, when cigar companies announce changes to their pricing, it typically heads in one direction: up. In a small twist, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc. has informed its retailers that it will reduce prices on three of its lines. Effective June 1, 2024, the company will reduce the prices of its Vintage 1990, Vintage 1992 and Vintage 1999 lines by 5 percent. All three of those blends are produced at STG Danlí. The Vintage 1990, 1992 and 1999 are offered in the same sizes and priced the same. A Petite Corona (4 1/2 x 44) has an MSRP of $8.85, while the Six by Sixty (6 x 60) vitola will retail for $13.30. These changes will not affect the Vintage 2003 and Vintage 2006 lines, which are made by Plasencia and TAVICUSA, respectively. The company says the changes went into effect today. “As our industry navigates through the persistent price escalations post-COVID, we at All Saints Fine Cigars have decided not just to hold the line but to draw a new one,” said Micky Pegg, co-founder of All Saints Cigars, in a press release. “We stand firmly behind our cherished retail partners and devoted consumers, ensuring they receive nothing but the best from us.” According to the press release, All Saints will work with its retail accounts to make sure they are compensated for any “recently purchased inventory.” This is the second price change for All Saints in 2024. In February, the company increased prices on select sizes by .87-3.33 percent. The price reductions come as All Saints is transitioning away from a joint sales agreement with Micallef. Since last August, Micallef’s sales team has been selling All Saints’ products. That agreement—which also so Pegg serve as the president of sales for Micallef—is coming to an end by the end of June. SCgarman Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I'm sure all the big Non Cuban players sense blood in the water with Habanos and the whole Cuban industry sinking like the Titanic. I would have never imagined that premium sticks like Padron 64's would seem priced like a bargain. But they are when compared to current Habanos prices. 1
