I think the best Cuban cigars are not among the regular models and annual limited editions, although many of them taste very good, such as Cohiba Esplendidos, which has a great taste, high overall score, burning aroma, etc. Every value is very good. High, but not everything is perfect. I think the best Cuban cigars are hidden in the limited editions of individual regions. The taste makes me feel as if my soul has been found. What do you think? Here are some Regional Editions that I particularly recommend:

Some discussion of special vs. regular production here. I personally believe most special production including ERs are usually above the average of standard production quality. Some are much better. There have been quite a few ERs that are true classics.

This is also a past thread where your topic is a little more discussed. The search function will probably help you find a WHOLE lot more on this issue.

For me REs have been mostly great. With really only one dud that I can remember: LGC Serie D No 5 RE Espana.

Recently just smoked a Boli Simone that is contending for cigar of the year for me.

It's just my opinion but i don't really agree with you on that @siwujun. In recent years I see no difference between regular production and REs. I've had outstanding smokes and below average from both.

I loved the Qd'O Capitolio, Secreto Cubano, the original Bolivar Libertador, not so much the Clemenceau, the ERDM L'Epoque or the Propios. I would love it if they stopped producing these and just revived the Partagas SDC, the SP Molinos, the SLC double coronas and so many more. 😍

I am fan of Regionals and find them to be more exciting than most standard production cigars. The often 10 count boxes make it easier on the wallet too.

I'll give HSA credit for one thing, launching REs and LEs was a GENIUS marketing move.

This I agree on 👍

I must say, I am impressed by construction and blend of PL Leones (SP), quickly became a favorite, and love the vitola.
