Salomones Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 A FB friend from HK reported today MRN recently passed away. Does anyone know more? 6
rckymtn22 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Good possibility as there was a post last week about his cigars being auctioned off. 1
Popular Post JohnS Posted March 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 11, 2024 Yes. It is confirmed that sadly, he has. We will be forever grateful for his contribution to our love of habanos cigars, especially with his dedication to his reference work, 'An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars.' 15 7

LizardGizmo Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 What a legend and by all accounts a very kind man. Huge loss for our community! 3

MagicalBikeRide Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Sad news. My father gifted me his book some years back. A brilliant reference. 2

SCgarman Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 It would be nice for some sort of public obituary with his real name, and perhaps a photo and summation of his life regarding cigars and his profession. I know nothing other than he was a collector of cigars and wrote an extensive book documenting them. 3
BossHogg Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Sad to hear this news. Condolences to his family and friends. 2
Lancero Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 The catalogue of his collection up for auction is absolutely mind boggling, some incredible bits in there. 2
Popular Post cigcars Posted March 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 11, 2024 Holy Jesus!!! OH, what sad news Does anyone know the cause and how old he was? In the meantime, Rest In Heaven our prized cigar info providing hero 4 1
99call Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Wow, One of those loses that really takes the wind out of your sails. Certain things you have in head stupidly as a permanent fixture, an ever present...and then it isn't...and then they aren't. It's such a rare thing to provide genuinely valuable resource. In a world of bullshit speculation, and hearsay, he provided us a compass, a touchstone. Thank you 4
Puros Y Vino Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Yes. Heard it this morning. He shared the same passion that we do here. His legacy is a great one. 4
Reuben Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I'm unaware of his reference book. I need to look into this.

Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted March 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 12, 2024 Few people have taught and gave insight to something that I really enjoy along with an asset that has gone up 4x+ in value. I was fortunate enough for him to send me 4-5 cigars once. Very generous and a legend. He fancied Champagne and was also quite learned in photography among other things. 10
