Tried using a tupperdor for the first time. Foolishly did not think much of the plastic smell, after two weeks I opened to check on them to find the aroma in my cigars. How bad did I screw myself? Any way to rectify this? Any help/advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

The next tupperdor you use, simply air it for a few days to neutralise smell. Then, once you're ready to put your cigars in, use cedar sheets from cigar boxes to enhance the tobacco smell you get once you have the tupperdor closed for awhile.

Easiest way to get rid of the plastic smell is to use diluted white vinegar (1:1 ratio). Then put some newspaper in the container for a few days. Plastic smell should be gone.

Thank you both for the advice, will proceed with this information in mind in the future.

For the time being, I have left it open to air out the container as well as my cigars. I felt when I opened the boxes of cigars I had inside the container to smell yesterday, the aroma when opening was very muted and seemed to have the plastic smell ingrained in it. Perhaps I'm over thinking it but is this something that would go away with time? Or perhaps with the addition of a cedar liner to help bring back the sweet aroma?

I think that after only two weeks in the tupperdor those cigars will certainly lose any 'plastic' smell that they may have gotten. If it were me, I'd leave the cigars out on the countertop for 48-72hrs (or really however long you're airing out the tupperdor for. Then when the smell has dissipated from the tupperdor, throw in some spare Spanish cedar or an empty wooden cigar box with your cigars and boveda. Give it a month or so and check back and see if you have any smell. I would think that it'd be pretty good by then. Good luck!
