Popular Post JohnS Posted March 10, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 10, 2024 Yes, I know what your thinking. Another thread on this cigar? Haven't we got them already? Yes...yes, we do. However, I put forth this thread to discuss what exactly makes this cigar great? You see, take Rick Beato, who is a music producer who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He has a YouTube Channel in which he discusses many intriguing and engaging topics that are relevant to modern music, but there's one facet of his channel that people simply love. That is, the 'What makes this Song Great?' sub-channel whereby Rick dissects and tells you why Boston's 'More Than A Feeling' works as a great song, in-depth, for example. Let's do that with the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa. What exactly is it that we love about it? I mean aren't there other long-and-skinnies out there such as the Por Larranaga Montecarlos and La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No.4? You could say that the PL Montecarlos is sweeter and the LGC4 is more complex but still, more members here would be currently seeking to acquire the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa. The Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa is a cigar that's well-rolled, but if I were to ask you to describe its blend I would get an array of different answers, I would guess. And the few that I have had all ramped up quite a bit in intensity in the last third, but still, I'll go back to it. Could I compare the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa to Wayne Gretsky or perhaps Greg Maddux? Both these gentlemen are supreme athletes in the field of ice hockey and baseball, respectively. But when they were young, before they hit the 'big show' of their sports, there were players that were bigger, faster and more enticing to team managers to build a franchise around. Yet these guys stood out among their peers. These guys both knew their strengths, their game and stuck to being highly consistent. Does this not describe the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa too? I would simply offer that the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa is a a cigar that doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is. And that is a 33 ring gauge x 178 mm (or 7 inches) Ninfa that delivers consistent, simple flavours, is competitive in terms of price-value and has its place in our rotation of cigars from our humidors. How else does one account for the reason why this cigar keeps selling and keeps going 'out-of-stock' on us? At the heart of the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa's success is the fact that it's like a successful NASDAQ-listed company. In other words, it fills a need within our cigar hobby and it got there via innovation. Kudos must go to Hamlet and Rob, but in summary, the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa is a cigar we didn't really know we needed but has become the cigar we deserve amidst the uncertain times we find ourselves in relation to Habanos cigar production. And who would have thought it? Habanos S.A. has pushed large ring gauge cigars on its customers for over twenty years now (i.e. 50 ring gauge and above), but the sweet irony is that our members love the 33 ring gauge Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa. Yes, I would attest that the irony of this all is indeed sweet. Just as that ancient hero of Old Testament times, Samson returned to the carcass of the lion to enjoy the sweetness of the honey from its belly (put there by a swarm of bees), the irony of Habanos S.A not meeting its customers needs over the years is like the carcass of the lion by which Samson feasts on. Yes, the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa was born from the carcass of a lion which symbolises Habanos S.A's failure in customer demand, but out of necessity comes opportunity, doesn't it? I am grateful for Hamlet and Rob giving us this cigar. The Punch Ninfa was extinguished in 2002; put to sleep, but the Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfa has awoken a sweet sentiment of joy which has well and truly revived our love for cigars that deliver in their expectations. Who would have thought it? Certainly, not Habanos S.A. 9 5
jay8354 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Ninfa is the direction of the journey, a very enjoyable journey nonetheless, but not the destination I am hoping Desnudos have in the range. The end is in sight, but when is the question. But I am loving the journey in the meantime. 1
RDB Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 What a glorious reference to the story of Samson and the honey bees! 2

Honestly, it came to me as I was writing the last paragraph. It just represents the idea of providence wonderfully...and in the most unlikely of circumstances. In the times of the Old Testament there was manna from heaven, the New Testament times...it became 'our daily bread'. Nowadays, the people can receive Puro Desnudo N7 Ninfas! Providence is truly a wonderful thing! 👍 1

You would think that Habanos S.A. would try and bring back some of these cherished old sticks as REs a LEs. Or hell even start a new program for discontinued sticks being rolled again; choose 2-5 per year. Limited number of batches rolled for each cigar. It'd be great to see some of the long gone lonsdales and long and skinnies make a surprise appearance each year. My guess is they'd do extremely well with their sales numbers. (Or at least on with members this site they would 😁). Oh well, pipe dreams I suppose. At least we have Rob and Hamlet providing us some bangers in formats we love. 1
Ford2112 Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I'm glad I was able to nab a bundle of these today before they sell out again. 1
