Popular Post GVan Posted March 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2024 I've had a bundle of the Spada Gordas resting for 200 days in the singles section of the cabinet humidor. I was a bit lazy as they are still in their cellophane shipping wrapper with the top open to the humidor (See Picture). These cigars have now replaced the 2022 Carlotta II's (which are also on fire) as the most reached for FOH NC cigar in my humidor. I agree with @rondogg, these are best smoked slowly. Typically for me they last 75 to 90 minutes +. As has been reported by others, they take some time and will continue to improve with age. The predominant flavors are leather, earth, light walnuts, 70% dark chocolate and molasses. I love these cigars with a cup of dark-roast coffee or a neat bourbon. I did an earlier review that compared them to a Boli CJ meets HUP Mag 46 and I'm still sticking to that comparison; but I'd now add -- as they mature -- the molasses sweetness is routinely present in the Spada Gorda where it is rarer in the comparison cigars. My Boli CJs hit their sweet-spot at 5 years. The HUP Mag 46's at 7 years with both still going strong into their evolution. The first half of these cigars are incredibly smooth and rich tasting typical of a much older cigar and as @El Presidente said there is no telling yet how long these will go into their maturation process. I don't think mine will make it much past another 6 months or so .... With 14 left in the pack of 25 it will soon be time for another bundle. Because at 200 days, I am routinely staring into the humidor and picking the Spada Gorda about one out of every five or six cigars in my current smoking rotation! 9
MoeFOH Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Nice one! We'll do a shout out soon to get some more reports in on these for the 300 days of Spada comp and compare how others are faring. Great stuff! 1
rondogg Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Thanks for the shout out. I am now at 90 days - waiting for the 180 mark next. 1
ha_banos Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 There's also a real mindset shift here for me. In 200-300 days, WRT CC, either they are no longer available or wont be for a very long time. Or the price will have gone up to put them out of value/reach. This is not so with these mofohs and nudies. I'm still in a bit of panic buy mindset from CCs. The anxiety is real. This is also a positive mental health message right here. 1

I fully agree with your positive mental health comment. The Ninfas, Carlotta's, Spada Gordas serve to push back that "I want that expensive CC box or I gotta get more CC's before they can't be found" feeling. We can still buy good cigars that are not pepper bombs at around $250.... The other added benefit is these MOFOH's are making my current CC collection last a lot longer! I just bought 50 of the Trinity Robustos and am hoping that they continue to feed that positive mental health vibe. 2
