RDB Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 It’s a Cuban corona gorda from 2016. Quite pale in appearance, but not to worry. The last of a box from FoH that has been consistently excellent. This one was initially too tight though. Two passes with a perfecdraw sorted it out. Once lit, the burn was regular and there were no draw or construction issues. So… flavours. Although it’s not objectively that old, this cigar has gone way past its primary stage, past its settled period, and is turning the corner into that phase where it is becoming much more gentle. Where the ‘old cigar’ flavours are stronger than the imprint of the marque. So it doesn’t really have any of the signature notes which give away a blind cigar. The body is under medium all the way. There is a lovely sense of sweetness, gentle perfumed wood and incense, no pepper or hot spice at all, and it’s consistent all the way through. It’s a comforting companion. Score a solid 1 on the binary scale. What a great box. 1
MagicalBikeRide Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 First thought was Mag 46, but I’ve found they retain their boldness for a decade or so at least. Will go with an Epi 1 instead …
Chibearsv Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I just smoked a JL1 from 2019 that fits your description pretty perfectly. I was shocked how old it tasted at just 5 years.
ChangBang Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 JL1. It sounds super familiar down to needing to hit it with the perfecdraw!
RDB Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 It was a… Punch Punch! Thanks for playing, and well done @ayedfy 1
