Hey all, I'm going to be in Tampa in two weeks for a few days and am looking to explore Ybor City and the surrounding area and just get as much cigar/cuban culture in. I'm also going to try to visit the J.C. Newman factory as well. But would love any and all recommendations for shops/places to visit. Thanks!

I live in Tampa, it's a beautiful city. Ybor is great, Tabernacle is a local shop with good sticks. Plenty of other shops in the area outside of Ybor. Near International Mall/Airport there’s King Corona and a Davidoff Lounge. If you get the chance check out Grand Cathedral. Enjoy our “real” Cuban sandwiches from La Segunda!

I believe Grand Cathedral was having liquor license issues with the man recently. Corona Cigars (Davidoff) at International is a beauty of a store. They offer a great selection of sticks, rum, and bourbon. King Corona in Ybor (listed above) is a nice, laid back spot.

I recommend dinner or lunch at Ulele along our riverfront area. You can walk with drinks and smoke outside here. Dinner at Charley's Steakhouse is never a bad idea. You generally need to make a reservation but if you get there when they open, you can snipe a couple seats at the bar, which I prefer.

Thanks all, keep em coming. I'm going to be by myself so I don't mind just hanging out and eating at the bar at a good place.

If you don’t mind, highly encourage a visit to Bern’s. They just redid their bar recently and it’s first come first serve. Best steakhouse in Tampa.

I just did the JC Newman tour on Thursday. Really interesting as it was my first time visiting a cigar factory outside of Cuba- very different. The guide was just so-so but the building is beautiful.

Cigar city brewing near the airport is certainly a great spot to stop by before heading home. Food was good too.

Enjoy.

I've wanted to do this for a while. I saw on their site you can now do a rolling class as well.
