MoeFOH Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Whether it be a new comic on the block or one you're just discovering... who's the best active comedian in the business right now? 🤔 Post up some highlights of their stuffÂ
Popular Post MoeFOH Posted February 15, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted February 15, 2024 I'm late to the Nate party, but this guy's killing me right now...   4 3
Popular Post Low Posted February 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 16, 2024 Shane Gillis is by far my favorite comedian at the moment. His special on Netflix, Beautiful Dogs, is an incredibly easy 50 minute watch. 6
Pmo13 Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Bargatze is a great suggestion. I would also nominate Dan Soder for very similar humor/delivery. His show in Boston was one of the last things I went to with my wife before covid hit, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder. 2

BlueWS Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 I'm curious what Aussies think of Jim Jefferies? He's in my top five and Dave Chappelle rules them all.

Jim is a classic Oz comedian. No holds barred. I am still amazed he found a US audience without being outright cancelled. 1
Popular Post El Presidente Posted February 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 16, 2024 Still Bill Burr for me. One of the great monologues.   4 3
BlueWS Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Comedy, one of the last bastions of free speech over here in the US! Even with cancel culture, which hopefully is nearly dead. We love Jim Jefferies.

Ronnie Chieng is also hilarious and another one, maybe less popular but suggested by Bill Burr himself is Brian Holtzman. The man has some guts 👌 3
chasy Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Really incredible what YouTube, Podcasting and social media in general have done for Stand Up, specifically. I'm not a huge fan of social media as I think there are many negatives, but it has massively leveled the playing field. Particularly YouTube, which is longer format. Podcasting has created an opportunity for comedians to have another, more predictable source of income in addition to playing gigs and the occasional movie role. I think no coincidence that we’re seeing a resurgence. 1
Slayer Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Sheng Wang's Netflix Special a sleeper hit for me. Present Active Comdians for me: Chapelle and Bill Burr, always. Taylor Tomlinson definately coming in hot, but I feel she's not paid her dues (way too good, way too soon I suppose, but that's my own problem) Â Nate Bargatze and Tom Segura occupy similar spaces for me, always enjoyable to watch, will check out if a new special drops, but feel they are pretty similar to the last one (albeit very good specials). Popular Post Namisgr11 Posted February 17, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2024 Several of my favorites have already been mentioned. Â One who hasn't yet is Ali Wong. Â 5
Goodfortune Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Saw Sebastian Maniscalco perform in Vegas. Hadn’t laughed that hard in quite some time. Russell Peters goes under the radar a bit, but has some great stuff. 1
Li Bai Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Anthony Jeselnik is quite funny too in his own way! 2

He's got many great "underground" old skits and mashups on YouTube. On 2/16/2024 at 5:31 PM, Li Bai said: I was gonna say Bill Burr too ! The man has some guts 👌 If you haven't already seen it, check out his F is for Family on Netflix. Some more dark funny humor. I also love Dave Chapelle and the old Chapelle Show. I was stoked they let him take over SNL for a little and it was basically a little version of the ol' Chapelle Show skits sometimes, SNL has kinda fell off, was better with the classics back in the day imo with Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and David Spade. I enjoyed his new stand ups, and still hold out hope for a return of the show, or something akin to it. Another guy that's pretty dark and used to crack me up, that I haven't seen in awhile, is Anthony Jeselnick, its all about his timing I still enjoy watching old videos of George Carlin, his videos have aged very well 😆 this guy still cracks me up.  1

Cigarsmoker81 Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 I like Dave Chapelle, Ricky Gervais, Gad Elmelah and Jimmy Carr. Eddie Murphy classic standups are always funny,Â
cnov Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Really enjoying Norm MacDonald at the moment. I got his book off the back of a recommendation on here and it's hilarious. 1

It would be epic! 2
