Popular Post eaglebear29 Posted February 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 6, 2024 Plasencia Reserva Original: Nestico 4.5x36 A dink of a cigar, but I love it. A great stick especially for the price. Punch cut works great on these for the draw, and Ive found they smoke way better when stored like my Cubans at 62/62. Cold draw is of sweet toasted tobacco with a hint of turbanoado sugar. Some I'd say are more pronounced that have the teeth and are a little more like cane sugar with cedar at the end. First 3rd. Always a great stick, it’s my go 2 from the beginning and now my #1 quick winter smoke. Always great smoke output and the flavor, has the Nicaraguan heaviness/strength but with how they do this puro it’s so smooth with tastes of cedar with the smooth tobacco and a hint of sweetness and like a nuttiness sometimes that wants to come through not on this one though. Not dark or heavy like many Nicaraguans can be, but still full body and strength; this is different, a very smooth aged tobacco with a good balance. Second 3rd. The sweetness builds, and with the cedar it’s phenomenal for this little smoke for one puff at the beginning since I smoke slow. Out of curiosity I took a faster draw and got a slight grape note. Very nice but I continued to slow down as to not get it too hot since the second puff after I lost the flavor note. Final 3rd. Curiously I smoked it hotter again than I normally would and it was a faint white grape-y taste, a tad little hot bringing in almost like a berry sweet tannin flavor reminding me of my mead that wasn’t quite done yet aging. The tobacco is already aged, but I’m thinking these definitely have potential on aging them longer to really be even smoother around the edges and bring out those subtle sweet sugary and grape notes. I’ve had a great '22 box of 25 I smoked through, I’m curious about this grape flavor if I didn’t smoke so slow (I really like to savor it and enjoy the time), I don’t remember that flavor but my palate has changed from my first box of 25 to this one. Ive had around 40 of these ones total. I swear 1/5 sticks they throw in these fresh boxes is extra aged to mess with ya as they get teeth on them and are extra smooth. Ive had a good 5 'toothy' ones from this fresh AUG23 Box and a dozen more on the '22 Box. 9 1

PimpNasty Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 I’ve been loving these recently and have got the same tasting notes as you minus the grape thing. Truly a fantastic cigar especially considering the price. 1

They really are a little hidden gem I swear, lots of other Nicaraguans don't even come close for me. Fantastic cigar for the price indeed. The grape thing was a trip,1/40, think I might put a couple boxes away for awhile. It would be cool to try an aged one from the release in 2017 or even a few years old to see how they are. Plasencia grows for a ton of other farmers too 1
VeguerosMAN Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 This line from Plascencia is considered mild to medium. Hard to accomplish as Nic puro, imo. 2

I'm not a huge fan of Nicaraguan tobacco but there is some out there that definitely stands out amongst its peers. Have you tried any others from Plasencia? I remember trying an Alma del fuego but not being a fan. I’d like to sample some more of their blends. 2 hours ago, VeguerosMAN said: This line from Plascencia is considered mild to medium. I have not tried the Alma Fuego but I have a couple resting I think a corona and robust but I believe one that was supposed to be great out of the bunch was the figurado, supposed to be a lot less peppery. I enjoyed the Alma de Campo, and the Cosecha 146 and 149, along with the Reserva Original 1898 which I would also recommend for the price. I have quite a few boxes resting and some of their Salmons and Alma Fuerte Hexagon box press sixtos Im excited to try eventually. Gonna be more of my summer smokes. Yeah they really know how to make a super smooth Nica Puros, Im constantly impressed by many of they're blends even their Honduran Puros have been great. They've managed to make them sweet with a little complexity and full strength which ive heard is also a challenge with Honduran blends.
