If I want Cubanesque I'll smoke a cigar from Cuba. The Nicaraguan Honduran Dominican and the like scratch an entirely different itch. I prefer Cuban tobacco to almost anything out there. But I do love

Since the rationalisation of the Habanos cigar industry around mid-2022, I've added various cigars from the Arturo Fuente Hemingway series, the Padron 1964 Anniversary series and the Padron Serie 1926

I have liked everything I’ve tried with an Oliva band. The AF Hemingway series has always been in the rotation, so it had earned its place well before Cigarmageddon. Assuming this is market research,

My recent adventures in exploring the more boutique side of the new world - Mixed results.

I must say I was particular impressed with the MOHFOH robusto - by far the best nudie/mofoh I’ve tried ROTT, and imo the only one that can truly stand up to Cuban counter parts I’m the same vitola.
I'm still keen to continue exploring Casdagli- I love there story, many of their cigars are blended by a Kelner and they seem to be using interesting/ unique tobacco.

The Condega lancero serie F (to my surprise) very enjoyable, great fairly strong smoke with some 'Cubanesque' quality in the first third, and the robusto and toro from Flor de Oliva, mainly because they're cheap but nice peppery Nicaraguan cigars you can enjoy while doing something else without feeling guilty...

My problem is that I've reached a level where my palate doesn't work well with non-Cuban cigars. I've tried many, but most NC. I found were alright, some were quite boring and one dimensional sticks. the ones that are really good are more expensive than CC. If the Nudies made it to Bahrain/KSA I will definitely give it a try.

I've definitely discovered that for my palate, there's something special in Honduran Tobacco -> Nudies confirm this btw. So I've been exploring that country quite a bit.

But in terms of whats earned a place alongside Cuba, for me, its been:

Illusione Epernay

Caldwell King is Dead

Aladino Maduro

Tatuaje Cazadores (with age these are fantastic)

Padron 2000 Maduro (age these for 2-4 years and float in bliss)
