El Presidente Posted January 28 Posted January 28 This thread is an extension of another. Bear with me. Some members haven't really been affected by the 2022 Cuban Price increases. Polls show approximately 14% of us are not influenced by price. Polls also show near 20% of us will only smoke Cuban cigars. God bless you, nothing wrong with that! Polls also show some 55% of us have started smoking NC's on a regular basis alongside our Cuban cigars. So my question is for this cohort of members.. No more than three cigars please. "Which NC cigar has earned it's place alongside your traditional Cuban rotation?
TacoSauce Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I've spent a bit of time on this question. My top picks so far are summarized in the first post of this thread: 1
Popular Post JohnS Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 Since the rationalisation of the Habanos cigar industry around mid-2022, I've added various cigars from the Arturo Fuente Hemingway series, the Padron 1964 Anniversary series and the Padron Serie 1926 lines. 6

Ford2112 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I'm on a Maduro kick. Ashton, Fuente, Padron Anni 64. Those are becoming staples. 3
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 I have liked everything I’ve tried with an Oliva band. The AF Hemingway series has always been in the rotation, so it had earned its place well before Cigarmageddon. Assuming this is market research, the Ninfas have no competition that I’ve seen in Mid-South USA. Burned a Queen Corona last night and my taste buds went to their happy place. Touch of sweet/ licorice towards the end with good build and perfect Hamlet-Cuban draw. Razor burn! I’m halfway thru the Spada Gorda as we speak. Got quite a bit of Boli RC in this, as did the QC. The Spada leans towards light body, medium light flavor. Again, perfect draw and construction. Back to topic, with the 70,000 available NC brands out there, nothing has hit regular rotation save for the above fore mentioned two. p.s. If anyone thinks I just made an FOH/Nudies commercial, ye be sadly mistaken. If Rob ever releases the Tasting Panel reviews, I’m the one being referred to by Hamlet as “FU Charles🥰” I’ll always feel like Sally Fields with regards to these N/MOEFOH blends. “They listened to me! They REALLY listened to me!!! 👍 5
jazzboypro Posted January 28 Posted January 28 My problem with Padron is that over here their price is not far from a many Cuban cigars especially the Anniversary line. Price wise they are not an alternative to Cuban cigars and frankly AFAIC they are not good enough to warrant that price. Unfortunately prise wise the same goes for the AF Opus X line but i never had one so i can't speak about the taste. With that being said, I like: Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro Crowned Heads La Imperiosa Duke Plasencia 4
MagicalBikeRide Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Prior to trying the nudie lines this year, I was getting through a lot of AF Work of Art and Short Story - along with a bunch of Davidoff Signature No 2. The selection of NC here is still poor tbh. And the prices of above smokes are not a whole lot cheaper than similar Cubans that I like. Since this summer, the only NCs I’ve bought have been nudies. I feel like they’re getting better too - both the Carlotta and Lancero with age and the Queen Corona and Ninfa relative to the earlier releases (at the same amount of time resting). 2
LizardGizmo Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Padron 1964 Exclusivo and Monarca in MaduroOliva V LanceroNudies/MOFOH (various sizes, easy to reach for the right one for the right moment) 1

We are both from the same neck of the woods, my brother. Price wise, I agree 100% that they are not an alternative to a fine Cuban cigar. Nothing is an alternative to a fine Cuban IMHO. Although, if I am looking for a full bodied flavourful cigar to pair with a nice glass of Bourbon. Padrón. Heck, if I was forced to smoke Padrón cigars for the rest of my life, I would not be an unhappy man. 4
Lt4-396 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Warped MdT 5205, Cloud Hopper 53, GOTF Apollo Illusione Epernay - All sizes Nudies/MOFOH -All of them, which one I choose is based on available time and mood. 2
smitte3 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged CT Rose of Sharon Toro FOH petite corona 3
HailState Posted January 29 Posted January 29 La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva Padron 1964/1926 anything Plasencia Fuente Anejo - with a couple years down 2
MrBirdman Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Davidoff Grand Cru 2/3. They’re polarizing but I love ‘em and they age beautifully for a NC cigar. 2
Rushman Posted January 29 Posted January 29 So I have pretty much always smoked both maybe exception when we had the store in Mexico. Been a big fan of Pete Johnson for quite a while. More often than not I grab for some Tatuaje cigar. But mainly I’m buying them from my B&M then I’m smoking what I brought (CC). I do get around to enjoying the others though later. Recently my main NC has been a nudies variant. 1
B44 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Patoro, specifically the VA XO is truly an incredible blend. HW Review: https://halfwheel.com/patoro-va-xo-extra-belicoso/379450/ 1
Biggerfaster40 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 A Fuente - most Plascencia - allSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
clickbangdoh Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I tend to smoke a decent assortment of NC's and my favorites tend to fluctuate a bit depending on mood, but a few that have become steady as of late: Sobremesa Brulee - toro vitola is the standout for this line for me Black works Studio Killer Bee petite corona - not the Connecticut, the original blend. Surrogates Animal Cracker 550 Also enjoying just about all the recent Nudies/Mofoh releases (stocked up during the last sale), would likely smoke a ton more, but I can often get some of my favorites in the NC world at ridiculously cheap prices through certain vendors. 1
Popular Post Ted Posted January 29 Popular Post Posted January 29 Oliva Melanio robusto so far. Consistency alone has won me (haven't had a plugged one yet 😄). 5
GVan Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Oliva Serie V Lancero - from 2019 Tatuaje Black Label Petit Lancero - from 2017 The Puro Desnudo Carlota II from 2022 - these are on fire and I'm going through them pretty quickly. 2
Cabbie Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Illusione Epernay le Grande SOMM BDX Robusto Oliva Serie V lancero 1
Pmo13 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I tend to smoke a lot of stuff out of Crowned Heads: (Le Patissier OG lonsdale, Le Careme, Four Kicks) Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust: (Sobremesa Brûlée, Umbagog) Davidoff: (Signature No 2, Millennium Blend, Winston Churchill). Foundation: (Olmec, Tabernacle, Menelik) Tatuaje: (Cabaiguan, Broadleaf, Cohetes, Lomo de Cerdo) Not a whole lot of what I would consider “Cubanesque” flavors in the bunch, but solid smokes all around imo with near perfect quality. 4
