That's one novel security measure. Counterfeiters aren't going to bother buying a laser engraver.

My friend has one. Doesn't seem too expensive. He's etched some of his cigars as a test.  I think it could be part of an anti-counterfeit toolbox but like how many measures have been bypassed already? it's a bit of "whack a mole".

What might work is etched serial#'s on the sticks, under the bands, in the box as well.  With so much tech commoditized these days, counterfeiters can catch up pretty quick.

This goes back several years. I think first to start this has been  HENK MAORI Cigars, https://www.henk-suitcase.com/the-masterpiece/

I can't recall seeing a China origin super premium before.

Interesting

Prez at last Intertabac in Dortmund I visited the Great Wall booth they had there and had a chat with export/import manager. He showed me the video of the factory outside and inside, ohh hell you have to go to Sichuan to see what they are doing.

All their premiums are with imported tobacco ( majority Rep Dominicana) and they are obsessed by perfection.

I smoked, one back home, 3 of the cigars they gifted me and only one was worth to finish.

The funny story is that I said how much are they selling in EU and he said that at moment export is not their priority as the thirty million sticks they make are all for internal market.....that has a growing potentiality for the next 5 years to 60MILLION STICKS!!

I believe this cigar was named top 25 in 2022 from Cigar Journal. One day we will be smoking Chinese puro.

You can smoke a Chinese Puro today. There are plenty to be had and I have had more than a few.
