Popular Post hangten Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 Think there is still time to throw one other review in the hat?! I smoked the Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto that was included in the Burnt Turkey FOH Sampler 2023. 1st The pre-draw is very easy and I can taste bready cinnamon. After I take my first lighted puff I find it very savory and bready with a little spice at the tip of the tongue. There is a distinct saltiness to my lips. As I draw more and retrohale the nuttiness kicks in. The cigar has been kept in 65% for about 4 weeks but he burn line is a little off and I adjust it - getting some leather and spice on the puff after. 2nd The cigar is continuing on a mild and nutty flavored journey. I feel that it has very strong and dry pistachio flavor in this part of the smoke. The bready flavors continue with the retrohale being very flavorful and savory - umami! 3rd The cigar got a little plugged here and I needed to relight which presented a leathery taste. It's still pretty mild even after the relight. Retrohale is a little rougher but still savory and nutty. I draw a little more frequently and it does not get as bitter as some NCs can punish you for. Side note - I tried using a torch and a soft flame believing that I was more accurate with the torch. Not so much lol! I still slightly overcharred. The saltiness returnrs with a warm savory leather. At this point the cigar has become too hot for my taste and it was time to put it down. All in all, a very pleasurable cigar that I would rate at 3.5/5. If you are curious, I smoke very slow and this took me close to 1.5 hours to smoke. 7
