Pmo13 Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 First off, the smoke output on this little guy is PERFECT. Thick and chewy texture for days. Even after resting for only a few days, the burn was very cooperative and only required a couple (which if we’re being honest probably weren’t even needed, I’m just OCD) minor touch ups. As far as flavors went, nothing too crazy out of this stick, but the notes I got were absolutely delicious. The dominant flavor throughout was an extremely clear espresso bean flavor. If you ever had an espresso martini with the actual beans on top, you know exactly what I mean. Secondary flavors I got were a nuttiness than was sort of like a heavily roasted walnut, and a buttered rye toast, almost to the point of being burnt. The latter flavor is something that really reminded me of some of my favorite Cubans. I’ve found that buttered toast note really comes through on Por Larrañaga Montecarlos, and the rich roasty nut note reminded me a lot of some 2018 Cohiba Siglo IIs I’ve had resting for a while. Final Rating: Box worthy for sure! 2 1
JLH Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Great write-up and pic. I just noticed that is the cigar in my avatar lol. I agree with @jazzboypro about The Dukes. It has a larger ring gauge than my normal preference, but it is delightful in that cigar. In case you weren't aware, La Imperiosa is the same blend as the legendary 2014 Las Calaveras. Those blends are not supposed to be reproduced, but it was demanded in this case. Peace, Jason
