Unfortunately prior to heading out to see family for the weekend, we fell under the weather.  So we hunkered down and made the best of (1) holiday decorating, (2) fresh air and plant based therapy, (3) prepping for the feats of strength - sans tinsel, of course, and (4) more therapy.

Also realized that Thanksgiving in the US may be the most restrictive of holidays when it comes to restaurants being closed - ah well.

Still much to be grateful for, and we made the best of resetting our perspective as such.

I had a fantastic Thanksgiving with my family. I left the phone in the truck so I could be in the moment. This was the after-party.

Had a fabulous holiday with extended family in from the D.C area. Lots of football, food and fun. This turkey never stood a chance at leftovers! But too cold for any cigars on Thursday. Will have to make up for that missed smoke while tailgating on Sunday.

I am very happy to see so many other happy family celebrations here as well.

Only one photo. One dry brined spatchcock bird on the kamado and one five pound breast for the oven. Kamado always wins this duel. No pictures as things got busy with a lot of carving. Still one of my favorite holidays.

Lovely evening in Hong Kong with our good friends and neighbours. Always a fun celebration.

Thanksgiving at a relative's house who is a big game hunter. Almost every inch of the walls of the house is adorned with some manner of beast. We had turkey for dinner 😁

Wish I checked the forum before today, as I would have had more photos. Thanksgiving wife and I went to the country club as her kids were with their father. Blissful and easy, with wonderful food and service. 

Friday her kids were over celebrating the middle ones birthday. Our wine cellar took a beating that day. 

Saturday took her kids to the nutcracker downtown. Not bad, though i never understood the allure of the piece myself aside from the music. The thematic elements always struck me as trite. 

Today? Down with November decorations, and in with December. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Literally before this year I've never heard of a spatchcocked turkey.  Then in the past month, I've heard everyone talking about them and have seen them posted everywhere.  Even saw one on an episode of Bob's Burgers.  I must have missed the memo.
