El Presidente Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Di and I are heading there on Thursday to catch up with her son Todd. I am holding myself off from testing for Covid as I am a little under the weather. Every time I fricken travel Still, assuming it is a cold that I am spruiking, are there any establishments in Auckland NZ that permit a cigar and a couple of great glasses of rum and/or whiskey? It has been some time since I have visited. Appreciate any input
JohnS Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Awesome, I'm happy for you both. Have a great time. It'll be great to see Todd in person again! 👍
Grady Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Would love to know as well, will be there next weekend for the first time in a long time.
Stevieboy Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I had to look it up spruik/spruːk/verbINFORMAL•AUSTRALIANgerund or present participle: spruikingspeak in public, especially to advertise a show."men who spruik outside striptease joints"promote or publicize."the company forked out $15 million to spruik its digital revolution"Sent from my SM-S908B using Tapatalk 1 1 1

I will try and head to The Birdcage tonight if we get back early enough from the wineries. Otherwise there are very few cigar smoking options in Auckland. Fantastic place however. Having a hoot ! 4
Jamie117 Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Only just saw this topic - I would have linked to The Cold Draw also. The majority of NZ cigar smokers are concentrated in the Auckland region, but alas the days of "cigar bars" in this country are dead and gone. Plenty of pubs/bars will be okay with smoking outside, but then you run the risk of offending people with the cigar smoke and regardless of whether I'm allowed to do that, I don't want that headache and unwelcome feeling when I'm trying to relax and smoke a cigar for 90 minutes. It's pretty tough here. Do let us know what The Birdcage is like. I don't get to Auckland much and haven't really smoked there. There are also some suggestions on The Cold Draw for places in Wellington which I plan to try out soon. Mainly a couple of garden bars 1

I hope on a plane for Auckland this evening and contemplating whether or not it's even worth it to pack any sticks.
