El Presidente Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I couldn't participate as I don't order fast food burgers. I had my cafe whip up some burgers last week for the cigar deck lads and they were mighty impressed. That isn't hard to achieve by the way. I could put out a bowl of ink squid potato chips and they would devour it. However for those of you who do, Which Fast Food Chain Has The Best Burger? There was general consensus on the deck.....but I suspect many of you have greater choice than our lads. Which chain...which burger .....wins your coin Bonus question......who does the best fries 4
hangten Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Midwest US resident here so I would have to say Culver’s Butter Burgers. But if I lived west coast it might be In-n-out. 3
cgoodrich Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 My 2¢… Lived 35 yrs in SoCal before moving back home to Idaho. Toss up for best burger is between “The Habit” and “In-N-Out”. Best fries are In-N-Out Animal Style. But you have to eat them immediately, they suck once they are cold. 4
Popular Post MrBirdman Posted November 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2023 Tough question due to regionality here in the US. I’m sure a west coast person will chime in with In n Out, but most of us easterners have never had a whiff of one. If we’re talking about the major national brands it would be Wendy’s for me, but of the local chains I’d take Five Guys or Smashburger. Of course if you’re here in Philly a cheesesteak is often the more tempting option. 5
jfrisko Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 In-N-Out burger wins my coin. Slightly biased since I was born and raised in California. Consistency from East to West, North to South. Best fries: In-n-Out Inside and out!😂 4
Popular Post ctsigler317 Posted November 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2023 My vote in the Midwest is definitely Five Guys. Always fresh and made to order. Same with the fries! Can’t beat a huge bag of their steaming hot, freshly sliced, freshly fried Cajun seasoned fries. Free salted peanuts in the shell while you wait. 7
Rushman Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 This subject skews regionally for sure. I grew up in Texas so Whataburger has to be on or near the podium. I would have to say In-n-Out takes the checkered flag. Here are my reasons: 1. Fresh - everything from the burger to the veggies taste fresh and you can literally see them turning potatoes into fries. 2. Staff - I don’t think you will find another food establishment (fast or otherwise) that has more employees per square foot - literally crawling with employees all working with one goal in mind. 3. Mystique - I had lived in SoCal before moving back to Texas before in-n-out made its way there. There was a buzz with people talking about the fact that in-n-out was coming to Texas. Now I personally don’t like their french fries and their milkshakes aren’t good either but this question was on burger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
Lfhard Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 The burger places I would have to chose is either Five guys and Bad Daddy’s. Best fries will have to go to one of those two places as well depending on my mood. Either the Cajun fries from Five guys or the truffle fries from Bad Daddy’s. 2
dominattorney Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I will garner ire by saying it. In and out is just ok. It's fine, but it's nothing to wrote home about. I'd take smashburger or larkburger any day over in and out. What a burger I think is ok but the patties are often dry. Five Guys is best, in my book though. You are usually close enough to one od them that it's not a regional issue. 4
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 The fries at In and Out need to be cooked well done for me. But a double double with onions is hard to beat. Five Guys have better fries but I prefer the burgers of In and Out. I'm in California. The best burgers are made by my Mom. She makes them with love and her macaroni salad ❤️ 6
Popular Post SCgarman Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 I quit all fast food about 2-3 years ago. So as far as a burger I either make them grilled at home, or order from a restaurant that has a good burger on their menu. BTW, type 2 diabetes is gone, and I'm 30 pounds leaner without fast food. The desire for it is gone! 12
thewang Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Not a chain but Bills Burgers, Van Nuys, California. 2
ChangBang Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Burger - 5 guys Fries - Checkers/Rally's - best fries ever! You know they're good when the grocery store sells them in the freezer section Lots of In-n-Out fans! I never thought they were that good...I'd rather get Wendy's 😅 4
thewang Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Aussie chain Grill'd! Avocado fries are so goooooooooood! 2
Lasered Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I live in Texas and ocassionally enjoy Whataburger but IN-N-OUT wins. No contest. 1
Popular Post Fuzz Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 Burger Point make some great burgers. And their fries are pretty good. But I can never go past the quintessential Aussie burger with the lot from a corner milk bar: burger patty, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, onions (I prefer grilled onions instead of raw), pineapple, cheese, bacon, a fried egg and bbq sauce (the place I frequented in high school always used bbq sauce, not tomato sauce) on a sesame seed bun (a damper roll is also good). Mind you, you do have to unhinge your jaw if you want to take a bite. As for fries/chips, Red Rooster makes the best chips out of the usual chain restaurants. Crunchy on the outside, nice an fluffy on the inside. KFC have fallen in quality over the years, and Maccas are reliable but nothing fantastic. Chips from a fish & chips shop used to be my favourite (with a good dose of brown vinegar), but they too have changed. Now I often see these weird yellow coloured chips. 6

Amori_Smkr Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 1.In N Out Double Double animal style 2. Five Guys Cajun fries 3. Shake shack Black/white Milk shake. 2
cigcars Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 *There's a private company here in downtown Louisville, Kentucky called Burger Boy. Their burgers are fantastic. And their fries are G-R-E-A-A-A-T!!! Before I had theirs Rally's fries (some places called Checkers) were always my fries of choice. 3

The desire for it is gone! Congrats on this! Big step! I'm a bit bummed we aren't doing the fat bastard comp as I dropped about 40 since February of this year (due a physicalthat freaked me out). Keep up the good work @SCgarman! My fast food burger of choice is always Culver's. It's a damn tasty burger slathered in butter and many try to copy it but fail. And sometimes they have a Curd Burger (giant curd on top). 2
Popular Post JohnS Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 When I've visited the West Coast of the US, yes...In-N-Out Burger, hands down. However, when I've visited the other side of the US, my preference is definitely for Shake Shack. Put it this way, the Cotton Bowl between Boston College and Boise State, in Dallas, was cancelled due to weather and was designated a no contest after multiple lighting delays on December 26th, 2018. It was the first such game called off for bad weather. My son, George and I were in that thunderstorm heading to Shake Shack for some burgers. So worth it! 👍 😁 6
El Presidente Posted November 13, 2023 Author Posted November 13, 2023 I don't think I have seen a true burger joint (outside of the majors) in the UK. Is there a regional powerhouse worth noting?
ha_banos Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 @El Presidente I've not found a great burger restaurant in London. Some OK ones. This food truck did an amazing tasty juicy ground burger! https://www.instagram.com/tuckaburger/ Have not had a chance to try since covid as not been back into the office! Really tasty. OK must trek soon... There's a load of other pop up places and small/indy restaurants that are good, but not outstanding - Honest Burger, Bleecker Burger, Boisdales do a decent burger! 😁, but there's no big chains that worth their salt (pun intended!) And NOTHING, NOTHING of note near me!!! Which is probably for the best.... I'm not a big fan of 5 guys. They seem to be getting a lot of love here. 3
