Popular Post djrey Posted October 23, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 23, 2023 Fall in the North East US has been a mixed bag for us. Lots of rainy weekends. This previous one had some breaks in that trend allowing for a frew good smokes this weekend. My D4's have been singing and I have to restrain myself from smoking through my precious stash too quick. This one is rolled perfectly. Well packed with a firm draw but not too firm. Opens up with a blast of cedar and espresso. Touch of black pepper is there too. Medium body right out of the gate. Half way and burn is perfect. A nice creamy component joins in. The texture of the smoke is rich and thick. Every now and then I get a touch of honey sweetness which I usually do not find in these, but it is a nice change of pace. Cigar finishes out medium plus. Pepper notes ramped up a touch making this a great rich fall smoke. As enjoyable as it was, every time I have one I can't help but wonder if I am smoking them too soon. With the legs they have I imagine they can go many more years and only improve. 93 pts. 10
Chibearsv Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 I smoked an aged D4 in the last blind contest that had that honey throughout. I hadn’t thought much of D4 until that cigar. Now my boxes won’t be touched until they’ve got 5 years on them, hoping for that same magic. Nice review. 1

I'm now on the same boat. Might have to get a few 10s to hold me over (I like them younger as well...never put them in my "really age em" column so tend to fly though em). 1
