Edmundos are inconsistent, but when they're on, they're en fuego.  Same for nearly all CCs.  Chill.  There's no one-size-fits-all.  You could name any CC and get the same love/hate response from the cadre on this board.  Grab a box.  Put 'em away.  Decide for yourself later.  Searching for consensus to decide is a fool's errand.  There's only one way to come at this: build a stash, know that one or two boxes is a ridiculously small sample size, go with what works for you, come to grips with the fact that it's mostly a roulette wheel. What sucks for you today works for you tomorrow, and vice versa.

Love the Edmundo. Way more consistent than the Monte 2. Definitely a fan.

I don't think there's any argument there. Edmundos are remarkably consistent--just consistently too mild for me. Although I will say I had a couple from 20 or 21 that were actually quite punchy but didn't have the flavor to match.

Such a good cigar for really young age.

Love the Wide Edmundo and never had one more than 6 months old. It's a shame they've never really been widely available. It's an exceptional blend that I think most people would really like if they ever could get ahold of one!

I love the Edmundo. Can't imagine anyone trashing it. I've had 4-5 different boxes of various Edmundos and only one 3 pack of Edmundo tubos. For what it's worth, the tubo Edmundos had the best looking wrappers of any of my Edmundos. In fact, they had some of the best looking Montecristo wrappers I have ever seen. Could have been a coincidence. Why didn't I immediately order more of those Edmundo tubos? Cause I'm an idiot

I have a lot of sympathy with some of the comments expressed above. I've been smoking Edmundos since they introduced the vitola and I've had quite a mixed bag.

I tentatively tried one in London at v recently opened smart hotel on Tuesday for an eye watering £65  (yes, the horror!) and well... it was spectacular - superb balance and duly nubbed. I asked if it was aged stock, and the reply was probably a year old and recently received from H&F. Incidentally so much better than a CoRo smoked the day before.

The cigars in the original post look great. If first impression is not mesmerising, just try and forget about them and revisit in 6 to 12 months.

I will preface this by saying that Montes in general I absolutely love. A good #2, PE, #5.  Love them.  That is why I thought I would loved the Edmundo. Great size, great marca, how could you go wrong. Not the case at all. I tried numerous times over the years. Different boxes, years, etc. Same result. I never liked them. Almost like they were a different profile. Can't explain why, just my experience. I gave up on them long ago.

From the comments above, you can guess that the Edmundo is one of those "love them or loathe them" cigars.

"Loathe" is probably too harsh a term. Maybe "underwhelmed" is more appropriate.

I prefer the 21-23 versions. Touch richer and more to my liking.

I am in the "not quite sure" camp. Simply my tastes.

I love the size and that is it. My least favourite Monte across several boxes and 30 tubos of Edmundo. PE love them 1234 love them. 5 just too small and the profile runs out of room at a great  rate .Always hoped for more with Edmundo and even picking them up in cigar lounges it is the same flat no complexity boring cigar. My 2 cents on aging don't do it they a flat trackers. I wish they had the PE profile which to me is the most consistent CC I have had.

I'd heard that about recent Edmundo so of course I had to try some. I found them to be stronger but not necessarily richer. Tasted to me like they just swapped out a seco leaf for a ligero. In fact, I would probably prefer a pre-21 Edmundo even though they are milder than I prefer.

I felt the same way about the PE. It had been a regular rotation staple for me for years until around 18-19 when consistency just fell off the cliff for me. Got bad enough for me to stop buying.

I will say a great PE is one of the best blends Cuba produces (yes, I too wish it was longer.) Unfortunately those have been tough for me to find.

I've smoked stellar Edmundos.  I've smoked poor Edmundos. The box that was the best, had really light and smooth wrappers. If I could have cloned the box, I would have. Those were sweet, light cocoa powder/sugar. Darker ones, more bitter chocolate cocoa powder/powdered sugar, but good, even though they looked like they were wrapped with brown tree bark. To me its a good cigar. I've had less luck with the DE personally, but haven't smoked as many.
