jfrisko
NEW to the place. Looking forward to the wealth of knowledge that I seek. Currently have a Needone 23L coolador that has 84% Boveda seasoning packs for the cedar shelves/drawer. It’s day 3 since unboxing the Needone putting the seasoning packs and rh is currently at 81%. Also have the coolador unplugged. Real quick question for the veterans, how long does the 84%rh environment need to sustain for the cedar to be considered seasoned? As soon as it hits 84%rh or 2weeks sustained at 84%rh? Best regards Josh SF-BAYAREA
Connoisseur Kim
Welcome to FOH! I've never used Boveda seasoning packs before (I'm using two tupperdors with Boveda 65% RH packs; only singles tupperdor has cedar sheets from cigar boxes), but AFAIK these seasoning packs will fully season Spanish cedar humidor/shelves after 2 weeks according to Boveda website.

yungchef
Great to see some fellow Bay Area folks, I'm commenting from Oakland. In regards to your question, Boveda's website recommends the 84% packs for two weeks regardless of when your humidor hits 84% humidity. I've seen it said elsewhere that once it comes to your desired humidity, let it hold there for a week and then you're good to go. Personally, I've always followed Boveda's guidelines just to play it safe. When you're talking about a unit that is meant to age cigars for many years, I figured what's the trouble in a few extra days for bulletproof seasoning?
