1 good site and 1 mediocre site has Siglo IVs currently listed around $1200 for a box of 25.

I have begun to notice more sales like this on Cohiba/Trinidad over the past couple of months. Does this mean:

1) market getting saturated with more supply?

2) inflation leading to less demand

3) prices are starting to come down?

I understood #3 was not likely to ever occur but doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

Thoughts?

It seems to align with all of the member who have visited LCDHs lately and report the shelves full of Cohiba and Trinidad. As with anything, there is always a perfect price point, and a price point that is too high.

But, if what people say is true about the insatiable demand for the cigars from China, I could be wrong.

No matter how much money I have, I only need so many boxes of Cohiba before I move onto something else.

You’re forgetting option #4: they’re fakes. Not saying they are since I don’t know the vendors, but Cohiba are basically a no-go from me at this point unless the source is unimpeachable.

I believe those are prices for 10s. If not they're as fake as a $3 bill.

EDIT: misread that as Siglo VI. That is a general price range for IV.

Trinidad is having a bit of slow movement but for Cohiba only Siglo I-III, Exquisitos & Panetelas are moving slowly. The rest are in very short supply with almost all available supply going to large markets. These larger Cohiba should never even enter the gray market. The distributors can't keep up with vendor demand. I would be highly suspicious of any larger Cohiba from a gray market vendor (and even some official vendors). Even experienced vendors can be fooled by flawless fakes.

I think that's much more likely.

I pulled the image below from a marketing email I received yesterday from a popular Spanish merchant announcing a "Cohiba Pre Sale" and it made me wonder along the same lines.

You can see all the ways they're trying to preemptively address the current authenticity concerns, something I haven't seen them or any of the more popular Swiss merchants do in several years of receiving their marketing ... honestly I’m not sure it inspires confidence.

And Siglo V cabs “discounted”!  I can't remember ever seeing that.

They don’t do fakes on partner websites of FOH…

As long as the vendor identity isn't stated it's fine although in this case this specific vendor has publicly acknowledged having sold fake Cohiba within the last year and was discussed in great detail on FoH.

Honestly this doesn't do much to insure against top fakes these days. The warranty seal and UV shield should be flawless by now. The serials can be fished for on the website.

Also this particular vendor appears to have operations in Spain however I don't believe they've ever been confirmed as clients of Tabacalera. Even so nothing prevents vendors from acquiring stock from third parties. But since gray market vendors typically purchase overstock wholesale and there should be no large Cohiba overstock no strictly gray market vendor should have any of these cigars. And if they are supplied by a distributor it's unlikely that they would be given that quantity of large Cohiba.

Cheers, I did not know that.

Yeah that’s news to me too - maybe he’s referring to Bond Roberts?
