Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted August 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2023 Aluminum tubes first appeared after WW2. This is a very unusual packaging format that would probably have been at the peak of the tubos wave in the 1950s. Broadly, 1946-1961 but I would guess more narrowly late 40s to mid-50s on this. 11 1

I am always super impressed by your knowledge of vintage cigars. Thanks as always for sharing! 1

Aluminium tubes first launched for Upmann December 1933 according to Simon Chase. https://www.cigarjournal.com/read-the-story-behind-aluminium-cigar-tubes/ Disappeared during the war years due to aluminium shortages. Doubt they reappeared in any number until the 50s at the earliest as aluminium would have had better applications in rebuilding Europe than for a triviality like cigar tubes. That seal was in use until 1961. So, possibly mid-late 30s. Possibly 50s. Anybody's guess, really. 3 3

I pulled that off of the packaging section of CCW so you may want to update that. I also assumed a lack of Aluminum from the late 30s until 46 due to the war. I suppose they could be from the mid-30s or 46-61. Indeed impossible to tell. 5 hours ago, benfica_77 said: I am always super impressed by your knowledge of vintage cigars. Popular Post Jack Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 Not sure that it helps a lot with this identification, but the Upmann in this photo is in a cardboard tube that says "Provisional War Packaging" on the side. 6
