El Presidente Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Cuba is not only known in the world for its cigars and rum, but also for being the homeland of the Havanese, a charismatic companion dog that was born on the island two centuries ago. https://oncubanews.com/en/special/havanese-the-charismatic-lapdog-born-in-cuba/#google_vignette 1
KCCubano Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Ive heard of them and know there are or was breeders in the Kansas City area. Did not know they hailed from Havana. Are they priced similarly to a box of Sig VI? Not my cup o tea. Always owned upland hunting dogs
chris12381 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 It's a pretty popular breed here in the SF Bay Area though most people I see with them keep them with a shorter, scruffier coat...not that "best in show" coat. My Australian Shepherd (named Havana) used to pal around with one before its owners moved to Canada. They are very intelligent and friendly dogs. 1
El Presidente Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 There you go. I have never heard of the breed. I thought the most exotic dog in Havana was Jose Candia's dalmation. It wasn't the brightest dog in the park ............not his fault.......you can just imagine how thin the gene pool is for pure bred dalmations in Cuba
LLC Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Cute dog but I’ll wait for the $10,000 LE version with three collars. 1 1
SpecialK Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I've got a Yorkie Havanese mix... She runs the show around here... 4
MrBirdman Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 From what I’ve heard they are excellent companion dogs. 1
SCgarman Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Beautiful dog. This breed has won best of show more than once. Westminster Dog Show 1
BrightonCorgi Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Pretty common dog in the US. With less of a coat than your picture.
