FOH is certainly a vibrant community with a wide range of interests and views. Most of us are active readers/listeners and are always on the look out for great content to enjoy while we are enjoying a cigar, exercising/working out or simply plodding around the house. 

This thread is for specific  podcasts/music/books etal that you have listened to in the last week ir so  and that you thought were exceptional and worth sharing.

I am a fan of the podast series "The Rest is History". 

 

Two episodes this week were riveting and they involved the rise and fall of Oscar Wilde. No one does sex and scadal trials like the British! 

If you have even an inkling of a legal mind, you will find it fascinating. Regardless, both episodes are entralling and really worth a listening.

Rick Rubin's new podcast is fantastic and I really enjoyed his 2hr conversation with John Mayer - namely the sections about his time with Dead and Co. and the Grateful Dead music, as he was my bridge into falling in love with Garcia and the Dead nine years ago.

Been listening to a lot of Richie Kotzen lately. I especially like the funky jazz vibe he’s got.

I've been building my physical book collection since I think they look great on a shelf and ended up picking up some of my favorites this week. East of Eden by Steinbeck, Slaughterhouse Five by Vonnegut, Haunted by Palahniuk, The Road and No Country For Old Men by McCarthy.

Most recently read books are Neuromancer by Gibson, The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, and Project Hail Mary by Weir. Highly recommend the first two if you enjoy sci-fi, and the last one if you like fun books without too much seriousness

Excellent solo. I love the Zeppelin BBC Sessions all around, but that particularly is a great track. Also The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair. Fierce guitar tone at the very beginning!

So last week I finished, for the second time, “Lord of the Rings,” read by Andy Serkis. This came out just a couple years ago, and I have now listened to it twice. Serkis, ever the vocal acrobat, reads every single character in a unique voice, and hearing the return of his signature Gollum voice is chilling. Of course, all three books in total come to about 65 hours of listening. If you start now, might finish by Thanksgiving! It is the most enjoyable audiobook I’ve ever heard. Although I’ve read LOTR about 8 times, not counting the 2 listens, listening to it in his voice brought a heightened enjoyment.

Just wrapped up "Politics on the Edge" by Rory Stewart, an enjoyable read, though I sensed a bit of steam running out around the three-quarters mark. In search of a change of pace, my next literary adventure beckons me towards the artful sensual erotic stories penned by the incredibly talented Stellan Emrys Wild. What sets him apart is his unique ability to delicately and sensually craft this genre of literature. It's not just a skillful use of words; it's an artistry that allows readers to embark on a journey of desire and passion, gently guided by Wild's exceptional storytelling.

If you like historical drama I’m on the third audiobook of Hillary Mantel’s award-winning Wolf Hall series about Thomas Cromwell. Really excellent, and well written. The audio performance is also among the best I’ve heard.

One of my favorite books of all time to listen to is “No shortcuts to the top” by Ed Viesturs. I’ve probably listened to it a half a dozen times. Partly because he’s a local badass, but mostly cause it’s an amazing story. It chronicles his journey to become the first American to climb the 14 big dogs without supplemental oxygen. In part of his tales, he talks about his heroic role on Everest during the ‘96 disaster.
An amazing read/listen.

I’ve been into the podcast Lounge Lizards and episode #109 was a review of the Ramon Allones #3 and a scotch pairing, a cigar that I’m looking forward to trying!
 

What I like about this podcast is that they all have different palettes and different views, yet they are all appreciated. So many times differences are offensive or divisive but not on this pod. I love listening to them, their opinions, and learn something new about cigars each episode.

I will once a day listen to a podcast that are anti-self. anti-self? ......the polar opposite of what I believe or what I think I believe. For me at least it is a good discipline. I always learn something. 

I am an entrepreneur at heart. I like to believe I am self made. 

Some good listening to the "left" of that belief. 

Podcast: The Gray area with Sean Illing. 

Nice one to kick off on is : The case for banning Millionaires.

LOTR is my absolute favorite GOAT series. Here's another I'd recommend. Its no LOTR but it is quite the masterpiece he has spun together. Where 2/3 books have been released and the author is working on the 3rd for around 13 years. He released 2 other short story books that add in to the main books to keep people busy over the years.

3rd book) The Doors of Stone (to be released and supposedly he almost done)

Highly recommend, I'm about to read them all again for a 3rd time and start his latest one I have yet to pickup.
