Those there that I spoke to say it has improved. I think it has dropped to 47th  most dangerous couuntry. 

Foreigners/tourists always stand out. you need to exercise appropriate caution as you need to do in many countries.

Some of the warmest and kindest people I have met was when I was in Central America. The violence/poverty there is very sad.
