Hey!

I am heading to The Netherlands next week, then driving down to Paris shortly after.

Any info appreciated, where to smoke, where to find CCs.

I posted this in the Global Cigar Friendly Locations forum but it seems there hasn't been a post there recently.

Thanks for any insight

Sadly I’d bring your own sticks. Shelves were pretty bare of Cubans when I was there last year and in 2021. Lot of good places to smoke though in The Netherlands…check out the LCDHs. However I think they may have some indoor smoking ban in effect so I’d double check that. Favorite lounge in Paris is Gentleman 1919.

Thank you.

Jeez, what's going on over there? Two years of poor stock?  No indoor smoking?  Wasn't it the Dutch who invented or perfected dry cigars that don't need to be kept in humidity control?

🤷🏽

Thank you.

Seems like a wise, conservative approach.    No expectations, no disappointments?

I'll probably be carefully packing at least 10 sticks for my 10 day trip.  How are customs agents on the far side?

Whew, customs here can be problematic.

And, my first MC was a 71 Suzuki GT 550, not enduro, but a 2 stroker and a beast once I shaved a mm off the head and ran it on aero fuel 101-120 octane. 😉

made my Beta 250 a  300 and even with a smaller base gasket it was missing something.. ended up putting a S3 head on you can change the inserts in it from mild to wild.. went with the middle insert.. the top tier would have required Race gas..

Hajenius in Amsterdam is a must visit.  A real ode or mecca to tobacco history and cigars. Probably the most significant & historic cigar shop in all Benelux. I think there is a Davidoff store down the street.

My racing days are long gone, but I have many stories to tell. Those day were late 1970s early 80s.

Now?  I like my putt putt for safe low key local rides to safely warm the oil up on occasion. Too many texting drivers these days that don't see me and don't care. 😁 😎

My racing days never were... and now at 58... I'm slowing down as I realize I can and have hurt myself.. two rotator cuffs and a bad knee will remind you that your are fragile..Still like to get out and trail ride and keep my pride in check..

So we're clear, the racing I was referring to was street and highway.  Against the clock, not others. 🤣  Loved testing my builds and upgrades.

Ate road tar and gravel in my younger days, learned not to. Came close plenty of times after.  Still own all my limbs, unlike some old friends.

Cheers

Travel w your own stock and be pleasantly surprised if you find something you want

This ☝️.  Just returned from Paris.  Not surprisingly, CC stock is pitiful.

No worries with customs, you’re allowed 50 sticks.

Thank you guys.

I just got back home today and I'm sorry to say I acted irresponsibly and didn't check for responses to this thread while I was away.  Had I done so, I would have known about A La Civette.  I was at the Louvre and could have visited the oldest cigar store on earth, so "they" say.

I took Rhinoww's advice and brought 10 with me.

I found a little shop in our travels in Paris, I don't recall where. It was a plain Jane variety store that sold tabac.  Grabbed their last HU Connie 2.   When I got to Amsterdam I found PGC Hajenius had ZERO CCs.  Found a shop in Apeldoorn that had a box each of Trini Reyes and Media Luna that were too pricey for me. I left with a 5er of MC#4s and a 3er of LFdC forgot the size.  The proprietor was an older gentleman dressed to the hilt, very professional and friendly.  But I grabbed the last box of CCs at the duty free store at Schiphol, a Part. Aristocrats 2019s. So I didn't come home empty handed.

Yeh man I did.  Never been to EU.  Paris was fun, I'm a foodie.  Beaune was fantastic and a sure shot reason to return.  My favorite wines are from the Cote D'or.

NL was a magnificent stop too.  My brother will retire there, his wife is Dutch.

Amsterdam (assume it is national too) outlawed their lounges about a year ago. LCDH Amsterdam was sad in May - low in stock but high on "plume".  Bring your own and smoke in Vondelpark or wherever you visit. Still worth it to check out Cigaragua if in Amsterdam. They are 99% new worlds but very well stocked and nice folks.

Not sure about any law changes, but I was invited to smoke in the lounge of at least 1 cigar store in Gelderland.

I was at the Rijksmuseum yesterday.  Wish I’d have known.  I walked about 3 miles out of the way to go to PGC Hajenius.

Everyone's favorite wines are from the Côte-d'Or!

Glad you had a great trip and at least found a few sticks along the way. Hope the crowds weren’t too bad. When we were in Europe in late May Italy (and Rome in particular) were already overwhelmed w tourists - and school hadn’t really let out yet.
My next trip may be focused on a beer/cigar trip to Belgium/NL. Not so sure if my wife will like it but I sure as hell will.
