Cuban Customs shares experiences in international forum

Brussels, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) The General Customs of the Republic of Cuba (AGR) shared here, at a forum of the World Customs Organization (WCO), the experiences of female training and empowerment, the head of the Cuban institution, Nelson Cordoves, said today.

Cordovés, told Prensa Latina, that he was satisfied with the results of the Cuban participation in the 141st and 142nd sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council, held in Brussels from June 22 to 24. “We highlighted in our interventions and meetings the progress in training issues, from the level of specialization achieved in various sectors with the training of technicians, and the possibilities that open up after the approval of the Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Customs Administration”, he explained.

With regard to the presence of women in the institution, he valued that it exceeds 70 percent, as a sign of the commitment of Cuban society with gender equity, a part of these women occupying important management positions.

Nelson Cordovés headed a delegation composed of his advisor Miguel Núñez, with the guidance and support of Cuba’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, Yaira Jimenez, and other diplomats.

I'd venture a guess at closer to 90%, I've only seen a handful of men working customs in all my trips. Its sure makes the process more pleasant than in the states!

Seems like 90% but I think it may be because they're typically fairly decent looking and we're focusing on them. 

I wouldn't doubt 70-80%. I bet if you actually paid attention it's probably 1 man to 4 or 5 women. Possibly more of the administration is men and less visible.
