JBV cigars Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Hello guys, I wanted to get some feedback and opinions. I purchased these Magnum 54 from {redacted} and stored cigars away a without close inspection. I check all my cigars for beetles etc ever so often and typically will take a deep whiff at them (guilty pleasure). Something seemed off with this one. On closer examination the box seemed to check out couldn’t verify serial cause Habanos site is down. But the cigar bands look off. The Upmann band has a bright bright gold color instead of the matted and textured gold. The Magnum band’s red color seems darker. that’s same seller sold two magnum 54’s both of them have these bright gold color bands. I haven’t filed a dispute cause I want this communities input as well plus it has been 4 months since purchase and feel like an idiot last pic is a cabinet of FOH 54’s on the right 1
99call Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 If you have bought with BR and have any concerns with authenticity, I would suggest maybe taking it up privately with the BR team as your first port of call. It's always most important to give the platform you bought from the first opportunity to resolve and investigate to your satisfaction. For what it's worth I would agree with you the gold looks off, on the bands, and they are poorly centred 3
nKostyan Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Don't panic, just check out the latest tastings at waterhole Mag54. It looks like they have updated the polygraphy, made a brighter print. I also checked my archive 24:24, same thing on all magnums 2 1

I didn’t want to reach out to them until I had as much evidence and input from the community Agree with poor centered bands!
nKostyan Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 While Habanos verification is not working, you can heat the warranty stamp with a hairdryer, carefully peel it off and check the factory seal 2

However the sticks smell horrid and the wanky bands tell that same story Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gormag38 Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 I agree, the font on the bands of the cigars definitely look less 'crisp' than the others you show (bought from FOH). Could very well be a new thing the printing company is doing however. We know that Cuba wouldn't give a damn and put worse looking bands than that on there. Without having cabs of my own to compare I would personally take @nKostyan advice and look at recent photos to see if any pictures on the forum relate to your darker hue of red you're seeing on the secondary bands 1
NSXCIGAR Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 If everything else checks out which it appears to I would not consider minor printing variations in the bands to be conclusive of fakes. The quality of the band would be far more important or major variations in the font or characters. What I see here would to me be within an acceptable range of variation. However if the condition of the cigars is problematic which could indicate sub-optimal storage conditions I would concur with the above comments that this is something that should be taken up with your seller and possibly BR admin if a solution with the seller can't be reached.
