PigFish Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Reno is a TSA trainee hotspot. I have been overly screened many times at that airport. Good to not test the system there! 1
LLC Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I’ve travelled hundreds of times with a plastic v cutter (metal blade) and one of those straight cutters that has the one side closed to control the amount you cut. Not because I need that but because it would appear to be less of a dangerous item. They are alway in my carry on back pack and never once has security ever even looked at them.
dshot Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I take my cheaper cutter with me on travels. Cutting is apart of the process. If someone at TSA is having a bad day then oh well it's not a huge loss.
Seacliff Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I bring too many cigars to know what I will reach for at a given moment. I invariably bring some back but totally good with that. Headed to Roatan and got a wide selection...What I may smoke on the beach before dinner may be very different than on the dock after...with scotch in hand on course
Popof4 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I almost always precut before I leave the house. Generally one or more because I don't want to be bothered with the task at an inopportune time or mess up the cut if I'm not paying attention. Whether I'm out for a walk or for a night out I will make cuts and test the draw. If not to my liking it goes back in the box and I grab another. I will not pre-cut if I'm bringing for friends. I also save tubos of all sizes. When I travel or I'm simply our for the evening I keep all my smokes in a tube to protect from damage from jostling around and if I don't get to smoke them they can stay in the car for an extended period w/o worry.
PigFish Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I find this an interesting discussion. I don’t know that I have ever even considered this practice before. Like metering put portions of toilet paper before having the need… There is something not quite right about this, it seem barbarous somehow !!! 🐷 2
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Grab three cigars and head out onto the lake for a morning fishing. cut the first. plugged. shit, now I only have two. Pray when you cut the second or third. (or pre-cut and ensure all three cigars are good to go). 1
Rhinoww Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 Great discussion. I ended up checking a bag and packing a cutter. Also ended up taking cigars in tubos (some that were sold that way other that filled some empty ones that I keep in the Coolidor for a quick transport). I cut a few of the cigars I was going to smoke the first day and left the others uncut and ultimately cut them in my room on the way out the door. I could not tell a difference in taste or smoking experience. Great trip to Vegas. As a side note we tried to go to 8, but the lounge didn’t open until 4, only the humidor was open at 11 am. The manager there sent us up to Davidoff up the strip where I burned a P2 and my buddy had a BBF. No issues bringing in my own precut cigar there. We walked up to Caesar’s and saw the Montecristo lounge. Inside only space but in my view much nicer than davidoff for a cigar. More tv, more seating areas not at the bar, and part of a casino so easy way to get a break. I did not have time for a stick there. I ended up precutting the two or three sticks in tubos I was carrying each day. Most of my sticks were smoked at blackjack tables. I didn’t want to mess W carrying a cutter. Again, I could not taste a difference.

Manager said he had reached out to them three times To update the times … 1
