Understood.  That is reasonable.

What is interesting is why Exoacademian's AI is coming to a different conclusion.

They are convinced that human elites have a history of keeping secrets--and that this is one of them.

So it is not that it has not been "verified through scientific channels" it is that those channels are "need to know" "special access projects".

AI does not care about keeping "national security secrets"--that is one of the hidden issues its creators have not been paying attention to....

There are many many more.

--

Footnote:  Fun exercise for an AI programmer.  Suppose you want your AI to protect national security secrets and it identifies a piece of data.  How does it figure out whether or not that piece of data qualifies as "national security secret" without having full access to all national security secrets?

You’re misunderstanding how current AI works. In a very simplified explanation, It is not programmed with data. it is programmed with learning algorithms and then given access to data. This is basically called deep learning. It’s output is contingent on the data it has been shown like a human.

At the moment, It needs massive data sets to operate correctly or even coherently. As the algorithms improve, it’s thought that it will need less data to output correctly. Right now, the largest source of data on Earth is the entire internet which is what it is being trained on.

But the internet, although massive, is not all data Earth or even close to a human experience. If you want it to give you human like responses, you have to train it in the same way a human is trained.

As a human, we acquire data just by seeing stuff and moving through our everyday lives continuously. Our senses. This is why the next step is GATO. We need an AI to acquire data in the same way a human does, through visual experience and hearing and smelling, touch and moving about the world.

….Unlike a human an AI can have thousands of bodies, millions of eyes and be connected to one ‘mind’

We seem to be talking past each other.

AI needs data.  Humans need data.

AI needs to process data.   Humans need to process data.

The "top secret" issue remains intact.

What does the AI do when it encounters "top secret" data?

What do humans do when they encounter "top secret" data?

Different humans do different things in that scenario based on their curiosity level, their determination, their willingness to ignore authority figures, their risk aversion level etc etc etc.

What do the programmers want AI to do when it encounters top secret data?

Have they even thought about it.

Ignoring or evading the issue will not make it go away.

We are not talking past each other. I have posted enough video explanations from scientists on this forum for you to get the picture. If you want to understand why what you are saying is incorrect, I would direct you to the wolfram video I posted here on how chatgpt works.

I think the question of what AI should do in such scenarios is crucial, and I'd venture to guess that ethical programmers are giving it some thought. There could be built-in protocols or safeguards to prevent unauthorized access or usage. However, it's indeed a nuanced issue that we can't simply sweep under the rug. While we're on the topic of AI, have you ever considered the lighter side, like AI's role in entertainment? There's actually a growing number of money making game that use AI to enhance the user experience. These games let you earn real cash, and some even pay directly to your PayPal. So, it seems like AI can not only challenge our ethical considerations but also offer us some fun and financially rewarding experiences!

For decades post WWII, nuclear weapons were supposed to destroy the world. However, the technology has essentially prevented how many millions from dying in wars between superpowers? While those making decisions will have to work together and show restraint, maybe we get lucky again with AI.

In both cases the only fix is to limit access.

The best kept secrets are the ones with the fewest people/agents in the know.

On the other hand we often overestimate how interested people are in most secrets.

If the AI follows Asimov's three rules for robots I suppose it will handle the top secret information appropriately. Right? I'm kind of joking, but I'm also ignorant. I hope they don't connect an AI chat bot to something really important, like the NOC list from Mission Impossible.

In all seriousness, I hope they plug the AI into a bunch of voting booths so we can finally get quality elected officials. AI Proxy Votes 2024.

Haha, your reference to Asimov's three rules for robots gave me a good chuckle! But in all seriousness, the potential impact of AI on jobs and various aspects of our lives is a fascinating topic. While AI has the potential to handle complex tasks and data, it's crucial to ensure proper oversight and safeguards, especially when dealing with sensitive information. The idea of AI assisting in elections is intriguing. It could indeed help in ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process. You might want to check out some fun games apps. I think they can be a great way to unwind and have a bit of lighthearted entertainment.
