Lamboinee Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Cigar: I can’t tell you Size/Vitola: 3.5” x 50 Wrapper: Cuba Binder: Cuba Filler:/ : Cuba Origin: Cuba Box Date: Jun-18 Fctry Code: RAG Synopsis: A consistently dry smoke that did not meet expectations based on prior experience with “relatives” of this smoke. Intermittent dives into rich creamy leathers and coffee that were consistent with expectations that went largely unfulfilled. Good smoke production and decent burn. Very dry mouth feel throughout. 1st Half: Good looking roll and solid construction. I did not pay enough attention to the cold draw and aroma before lighting the cigar. Upon ignition the cigar emphasized dryness, slight bitterness and/or vegetal hay grassy nuances, plenty of white pepper. Perhaps a mild tea undertone upon lighting. The cigar seemed to move quickly into the first half with the white pepper and dryness playing staring roles. The grass, bitter, vegetal, and tea notes subsided quickly (almost immediately). In contrast, the dryness and white pepper remained predominant. There are two or three welcome excursions into leather, coffee, and cream flavors of which I was expecting more. The first of these tasty detours coincides with my first sip of wheated bourbon. I later learn that there was no correlation between bourbon sips and the appearance of these flavors. Breadish flavors linger around like someone on the sex offender registry. The burn seems fast, but this turns out to be an illusion or misperception (see below). 2nd Half: As we enter the 2nd half, I administer a mild touch up with my lighter to address a slight slack in the burn. The dryness of the cigar is still at the forefront along with some white pepper that has tempered from the beginning but is still present. The cigar’s dalliances into rich leather and cream continue to punctuate the smoke. For a moment I believe the cigar is going to follow a richer creamier leathery path only to find the cigar abandoning this path to return to white pepper dryness. A mild/med nicotine strength is starting to be apparent. Two unusual flavors pop at two separate and distinct moments – the first is a bit of lavender/floral and the second is touch of fish scales or fish sauce which is unusual but not necessarily bad. Both instances are fleeting. The second half’s flavor development is most notable for the white pepper’s transition into rich cedar woodiness. The occasional detours toward rich cream, leather and coffee are the most enjoyable parts of the second half – much like in the first. Overall smoke production and burn has been good. Shortly after ashing in the 2nd half, the cigar seems to voluntarily put itself out. I comment in a friend via text that “even though the cigar wasn’t exemplary, there was still not tobacco fall off in the 2nd half like I find in many NCs.” I oblige the will of the cigar gods and lay the 1” nub down. I have to go type this stuff up now. Overall smoke time was approximately 45 minutes, although it seemed like the cigar was burning faster during the first half. Completely Subjective Score: B/B- . 8/8.3 out of 10. 83-87. Very dry with an emphasis on white pepper flavors that I have rarely found to dominate a CC. Forays into rich cream and leather with coffee and milk undertones gave hope, but didn’t stay long enough. Personal Note: This cigar was acquired through my FOH friend @williamthewolf. I would like to thank him for trading with me and being a great resource and new friend. Willy the wolf has recently assisted me in exploring this cigar brand’s core lineup. I was completely unfamiliar with this brand until roughly 1 month ago. My previous experiences with this brand come from smoking “relatives” to this smoke. Those smokes were better and this example did not meet my expectations. I acquired this cigar roughly 1-2 months ago from Mr. Will who had stored them correctly. The cigar sat in my humidor at approx. 65-68% RH and 67-69 degrees Fahrenheit. It had rested for several weeks after a brief 3-4 days in transit from Mr. Wolf. Could that short span of time impacted the cigar? Of course, but I find it unlikely that any impact played a major role. please note the reverse blindness of this picture. 4

Low Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Only thing I can think of is a Partagas D6. I've had a few, and the ones that were less than exceptional fit your description perfectly. 1
