ChangBang Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Visiting these places for a snowboard trip in a week and of course I'm looking for your help to see where to smoke after all the great tips I got from London! In Zermatt I've found numerous cigar lounges that doesn't seem to have a minimum(I'll be buying drinks anyways so fine with it) and wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on where to go. From London I kinda was expecting a minimum or not being able to bring my own, but messaged a place and they seemed surprised that I was asking and said Of Course! So far I've found Alpenhof bar and cigar lounge Sansi's bar - their cigar menu still has CoRos for 21chf and Esplendidos for 29chf so we'll see if thats still true! I'll prob stop by and ask the forum if they're legit Joseph's bar and terrace Bar 55 Smoker's bar Anyone have any experience with these? Chamonix - haven't found anything, so I'll take any recommendations Any of course any tips you have I'll appreciate! Zermatt - I only have Chez Vrony booked and have been looking at hotels where I can use their hot tubs. Chamonix - don't really have much except a few restaurants that have interested me. Thanks!
madandana Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Following- We’ll probably be up that way next fall.
Wookie Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 We stayed at hotel mont blanc in chamonix and loved it….center of everything. No cigar bars or cigars to be had but smoked outside everywhere. Get the local dish chicken Savoyarde at least once. Great comfort food in local tradition.
ChangBang Posted February 14, 2023 Author Posted February 14, 2023 Alpenhof bar and lounge. Technically if not staying in the hotel, can't bring your own cigars but they were fine with me. I did assure them I'd be drinking. FYI CoRos were 80 chf 😲 3
El Hoze Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 How have the snow and scene in Zermatt been? We had a trip booked to Zermatt this year as we get a free week on our Ikon Pass but we have had so much unbelievable snow on our home mountain in Steamboat that we postponed. Dying for a few good adventures next season. Enjoy!!
ChangBang Posted February 14, 2023 Author Posted February 14, 2023 Just got here this afternoon so not sure yet, it's def less than CO unfortunately - I'm in Denver. I'll update tomorrow, but have heard off piste is pretty bare. Got the ikon as well so doing zermatt and chamoix this trip 2
ChangBang Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 So winding down from the night and have a few days of snowboarding under me. Snow is shit with the narrow catwalks being pretty much scraped off and I'm just sliding around - got my board in for an edge so hopefully it'll help. Off piste is pretty hard but def better than the runs. Oh and another thing - people here even on the narrow catwalks are skiing back and forth over the entire run and its infuriating lol. With everyone being funneled into these runs, it feels crazy crowded. That being said the mountain has so much potential with more snow, I'm staring at bare off piste routes that look soo nice! Scenary is of course beautiful so I'm just sightseeing while dodging people. Apres is really fun too! No cigar for the past 2 nights but prob tomorrow! 4
ChangBang Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 Sansi's bar - sell both hookahs and cigars with I think hookahs being the primary draw. Really cheap preincrease prices. Bbf are 12chf?? Drinks are also reasonable, def winner but not sure if they take outsiders outside of the guests staying at the hotel...I'll ask them when I'm leaving 😅. 2
ChangBang Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Bar 55 with a bcj before trying to find some dinner. Smoking room in a gin bar that has a main area, game room with pool, and this room. Saw some cigars for sale - im no expert but think the cohibas look rougher than they should. BCG for sale at 13chf...I need to get better at spoting fakes, either people don't know about the place so they're still around or theyre fakes. Kinda dark and dingy. YouTube TV so you can play whatever music which is cool I guess. Will have a cigar after dinner with the best of the 3 lounges I visited in my opinion! 1
ChangBang Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Sansi's bar was my fav of the few - stopped into Joseph's Bar and terrace as well and it seemed nice enough, maybe a little boring for me. Only alpenhof cared about bringing in your own cigar if not staying at their hotel. Off to chamoix in the morning where I'll prob have to smoke outside as I haven't seen anything regarding a lounge. Unless I find one, this'll be it. Hope anyone going to zermatt finds this useful! 2
