I'm planning a trip for the week of July 4th to Croatia and Montenegro.  I will not be in any of the big cities.  The biggest town we will be staying in is Dubrovnik.  I also found this great Villa to stay in on a vineyard overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the town of Orebic, and it seems that cigars are very popular there.  They have a cigar room, and a cigar and wine tasting that you can reserve.

As far as Montenegro, we are staying in the town of Portonovi.

This is probably a long shot, but does anyone have any cigar shop recommendations for these areas?

Unfortunately with the cigar and wine tasting, they offer non-Cubans, so I will probably just do the regular wine tasting and pair them with my own cigars.

Curious to hear about it after you're back, sounds like you picked some great spots to stay. My grandfather was from Croatia. I've never been there, it's been on my list of places to visit for too long!

I will.  It looks like a beautiful country.  I can't wait to go.

Love Croatia / Dalmatian coast. Food is a bit average in most places and service levels leave something to be desired (generalisation). That said; for the spectacular beauty of the coast, and atmosphere one of my favourite Mediterranean destinations for sure.

Bonus: Exciting wines and try to pick up some olive oil. It's not very known outside of the country, but imo Croatia makes the best in the world.

Haven't been in years; last time before I smoked cigars so can't help with that. My best guess is it will be slim pickings as in most places in Europe. I'd definitely bring some with 😀

Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

no cigar tips other than watch yourself in Montenegro, I believe its quite well known for tobacco smuggling, and you might bump into some unsavoury types.

other than that,  try and get to Plitvice. it's an area of stunning natural beauty.

also the spit roasted lamb that you will see everywhere, is gorgeous,  especially with a cold crisp glass of local white wine.  Enjoy

The hotel in Orebic is farm to table, from their own farm and vineyard, and all meals are included.  Looks fantastic from the pictures on the website, but I'm just afraid that I am not going to want to eat anywhere else.

Morning Elliot,

No Sorry, I wasn't suggesting it as an evening or main meal.   These places are road side and the sort of equivalent of great little road side burger joints.       I'm in no doubt you've got your bases covered, and have something wonderful lined up.     This tip is just if you happened to see one on the side of the road (as you typically do).whilst on your travels

I stopped at one of the rural truck stops once, and it was hilarious,  they gave us a menu with 100s of items on, that all seemed to be from the 1970s. anyway, we ordered, and they completely ignored what we asked for, and brought us a huge slab of beautifully slow roasted crispy lamb, a caraf of local white wine, salad, and basket of bread.    It quickly became apparent the 'menu' was just for table decoration, as they only did 2 things.     Roast Lamb and Roast pig.       Although a bit confused, we couldn't have been happier, and it was some of the best soul food we had in Croatia.

Orebic looks absolutely stunning, have a great time they are lovely welcoming people.

No, I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I was comparing.  I wasn't.  I was adding to the great food experience you posted.  I am looking forward to it all.  We are only staying in that villa for 4 days of the trip.  I was just pointing out that "destination hotels" are good and bad.  It's so nice to be there, but at the same time, it's so nice you never want to leave.  We ran into that problem on Mallorca last summer, so this summer, I purposely only booked a few days there.

I will definitely be on the lookout for these.  It looks amazing!  The lamb at the place in the video looked incredible too.  It was near Split, but we are not going there.  I wonder if they have something similar near Dubrovnik.

I put the same ask up here in July and it was taken down! Anyway I actually did find a cigar shop in Dubrovnik. The owner is called Ivana and you can get her on WhatsApp on +385 91 976 8842. They have a small humidor and decent prices. It’s called Fumar.

The pictures all look amazing.  I want to create a tour of the prettiest beaches in Croatia.  I have been searching online, and I haven't found a tour that exists, so I am compiling my own list and I'll ask a boat person to take us to them.  So far, my two "must see" beaches are Stiniva Beach on the island of Vis, and the Golden Horn beach on the island of Brac.

Did you go to the blue cave?  I heard it is amazing, but the wait for your boat to enter can be as long as 2 hours.

Just clicked on your link. Looks like they have Ashton VSG and ESG.
Try the ESG, they are premium NCs and very tasty.

Šel jsi do modré jeskyně? Slyšel jsem, že je to úžasné, ale čekání na vjezd vaší lodi může trvat až 2 hodiny.

We were not in the cave, we bought a trip for a week, by plane to Split, by bus to a hotel in the small town of Brist... Every day we swam somewhere else between Brist and Gradac. Absolute privacy in small coves. You will definitely meet a lot of Czechs there, it is our favorite destination. Good food, excellent ice cream, beautiful sea... I think you will be satisfied...

It was fine, good selection of CCs. Not the biggest humidor in the world but they were kept fine and it was ideal for a vacation smoke.

Havana Cigar Shop In Split had a good selection when I was there in August of 2021. It’s a relatively small humidor but I was able to stock up for a week long sailing trip throughout the region. It was an amazing country, I can’t wait to go back. Anyway, the shop has a decent selection of whiskey as well. Not sure about the selection these days… I’d imagine it’s fairly slim pickings these days. Best of luck! Enjoy the trip.

Just got to Split yesterday. Going to Dubrovnik tomorrow and then to Montenegro for a day trip before heading to Hvar. I’ve luckily brought a few good sticks with me but always get suckered into playing the CC lottery these days. I feel like I can predict the inventory, but I still go in hoping I’ll get surprised. I’m short on time given I’m with the family and they could care less if I find anything or not. Any suggestions on where I may get lucky on finding a box or 2 😂
