LordAnubis Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 So we all have feelings (mostly sad, some actually like how this is all shaking out). My question is. What are you going to do if habanos reduces prices back and brings volume back. 0. I never left. 1. They’re dead to me, I’m going to NCs and will stick with em. 2. Of course I’ll be back. I’ll dump the NC rubbish and come back to the GOAT. 3. I’m back and I’m mortgaging the house to buy it all. 1 1
Popular Post LordAnubis Posted January 19, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted January 19, 2023 I’m in the 0 category at the minute. I’m well stocked. Doubt I’d buy much more, but be happy to buy some stuff I like that’s not too available right right now. 6
Corylax18 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Yes, I started looking for other options years ago. I obviously didn't predict they where going to do what they did with prices, as drastically as they did, but it was pretty clear 5, even 7 years ago that things weren't going in the right direction.

KCCubano Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 They are dead to me as far as new purchases. Bought LGC Glorias and possibly last cc's. Nudies great imo and better construction. Rather spend my $$ on those. Never really smoked many nc's. Found a few AF and Oliva I enjoy as well. No perfecdraw needed. Screw HSA! Prices will never be back down lol
Ford2112 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I smoked a Mareva N4 nudie today and I have 7 left. I will be buying quite a few bundles of the new blends. I also am having fun purchasing NCs from my local B&M. Habanos aren't dead to me but they aren't exactly front and center right now save for a few bucketlist items. 2
KnightsAnole Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I would be back to full purchasing 2-3 boxes per month. I think I understand where the hikes are coming from and I could forgive that. No harm no foul. 2

Miguel Gracias Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Never left, just slowed down stocking em... 4
Arabian Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 slowed a bit down, tried to get into NC for a while, some were alright but nothing beats a good Cuban, and the Cubans now that. 2 1
Popular Post Duxnutz Posted January 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 19, 2023 Kinda. They’ve taken a lot of the fun out of the hobby. Also, their actions make me feel like a schmuck for buying from them since they treat me like one. Still on the fence about liquidating half my supply (prob 100ish boxes) of regionals/discontinued lines and just enjoying my regular favourites then take it from there. Kinda the same way about higher end bourbon now. 7
ha_banos Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 umm'ing and ahh'ing over this. Walking around in a circle. Looking around at various NCs, customs. My upper end for regulars was £15, specials was £25. Now all I have in these ranges is the regulars that fit into up to £25. Which is fine as of the fact. Certainly some stuff I was always meaning to stock up with anyway. But priced out of a lot more of the catalogue for sure. You can have those. Lets see if they price me out the rest. So not yet dead I guess, but definitely dying. 2
djrey Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Totally out at the moment and haven't bought in about a year. At current prices I can't afford anything, I'm not paying $20 for PSD4. Luckily, I have supply to last 10 years at my smoking rate. Longer if I begin to mix NC in, which is the likely plan of action. If Habanos prices ever come back down, I'll be back. Plan to try some Arturo Fuente again after many Cuban smokers mentioning the brand. Probably been 8 years since I have smoked any besides a few aged Opus. That and Nuddies, still haven't tasted them yet. 4
shokao Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I would not say "dead" but as far as buying rate, I would say it's dying by the minute. Not long ago I was sad because I thought I could not enjoy NCs anymore and didn't want to spend lots of money on CC's. Then I've started to talk with friends asking for good NCs, saw some recommendations here on FoH and right now I'm walking twards New World direction and I must say I'm enjoying a lot. My conclusion is that CC's became an opportunity buy only. If the price is good, we have a deal. If we're talking MSRP, I don't think so.
Popular Post Arctic Dude Posted January 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 19, 2023 Habanos is like Fredo… 5
Rhinoww Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Funny you ask. Was just contemplating the rumored January prices increases, with the reports from the island of another 10%. Brutal. I have a large stash. I have enjoyed buying as part of the hobby. While I can afford to buy, the days of two to five boxes a month are very done. I’m probably down to six or less new boxes a year. But if they continue to raise prices every six months, then I’m done. Plenty of other entertaining things I can do with my money to burn at that rate. I moved away from collecting bourbon when the prices got nuts. I may do the same with CC. A $600 box of Monte No 2 would be nuts in my book fwiw. I will use what I have, supplement here and there but stop trying to chase the taiL of the dragon and see if perhaps it is lurking somewhere in my basement storage. 2

Have some old NC stock (not a lot) that I can go to and am fairly well stocked otherwise. An educated buyer always looks for a deal. Or what passes for one for you. Heh.
Chibearsv Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Being older means my memory is too long. CC prices dragged me up the ladder for a while but now they've gone over the top. "Normal" boxes of cigars over $500 is ridiculous in my opinion. Hell, a $25 cigar used to be Esplendido 😰and that wasn't too long ago. I played along for a while but I'll smoke my stash and only look for value now, whether that comes from CCs or NCs. 3
joeypots Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 My answer is 2. Of course I’ll be back if there are more and less expensive Cuban cigars available. I wouldn’t call NCs rubbish but I’m woefully ignorant of them. I’ll fill in with NCs and smoke my Cuban cigars less frequently. I’m glad for the cigars I have and I’ve taken particular delight in notifying my better half that the box of crazy expensive cigars I bought 4 years ago could bring a serious profit if sold. 2
SpecialK Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 solid 2.. I'm a budget buyer : singles/quarter boxes and the odd box here and there.. only been collecting about a year and have nothing aged at all / around 100 sticks.. I've been a NC smoker over 20 years and my attempt to go back hasn't been great.. had an Opus X and an AJ a few weeks back and they didn't do it for me.. So I'm effectively screwed.. I do appreciate the 1/4 options around here and I'm lucky in a sense that I enjoy coronas/petite coronas ..
Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted January 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 19, 2023 Not completely dead. I have stock to last me a loooong time. I can't for the life of me start going down the NC path. I have a few NC sticks here and there, some Nudies, etc. But Cuban tobacco is my jam. Buying NC boxes are a no go for me. Future Habanos purchases for me will be limited to the "cheapies". Quinteros, JLP, LFDC. Smaller sticks for the colder months or chasers after having a more substantial cigar. 5 1
jakebarnes Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I'm still here, but becoming a value shopper--whatever that means. There are a lot of insane prices out there, but every so often boxes pop up that are a decent bang for the buck in my eyes (primarily here) and I will jump in. 2

Islandboy Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I don’t believe for a minute that Habanos is ever rolling back their pricing in any significant way, but I’d certainly jump back in if they did. And I have enough stock that I have no reason to suddenly start buying NC’s more than the here and there’s that I have in the past, so I guess technically I’m a 0. My purchases in the last year or so have been almost exclusively the customs that became available outside Cuba a few years ago. Pricing of these has been high compared to purchases of the same made in Cuba, but at this point in Habanos cigarmageddon price increases, it’s now pretty palatable.
