Deep Dive: Hoyo De Monterrey Le Hoyo Depute

I have always enjoyed these 38 gauge x 110mm rich little cigars. I actually make a NC version for myself in 38 gauge X 127mm (5 inch). I put them in wheels of 100. One day I will do them for FOH in the same format.

Anyway back to the Depute! Proves how much flavour you can achieve out of a small package. Should be cheaper. Should be cheaper and in 50 count packaging but in terms of flavour.....sublime.

Running through a box currently, those took me by a surprise. Little bit punchy/tad peppery. I don’t get HDM profile of rich cream and vanilla. Most likely will not try them again.

I love the small preview of a 38 × 127mm in bundles of 100 nudie you snuck in there.

I've always been a big fan of the original Le Hoyo range. I think these are the only ones left I still buy - Switched to them after a bad run of Du Gourmet boxes years ago and never looked back. I do find they need aging, but when they've had enough time down they're pure class, rich and luxurious, one of the best small CC's.

How old are they?

They're one of those cigars that I find do need aging. I generally wouldn't bother with them until they have at least 3 or 4 years on them, they can be very green and tannic tasting otherwise. That rich cream takes time to develop in these. The Des Dieux were the same.

Hoyo Du Depute are quite good. A very nice small cigar in an uncommon vitola. The price is also very good. If you're a fan of Hoyo these should be in your rotation.

One of my happy " newbie" mistakes. Early on I got 4 boxes ( 2fer specials ). Smoked one rott and was majorly disappointed. SIL gave me one of those small 3 shelf humidors. Chucked them in there and pretty much forgot about them except for monitoring the temp and RH.

Fast fwd 20-24 months, grabbed one out and wow! These are nice! Not Lusis or SW nice but a damn good small smoke. Stuck my RGPE's in there with them. Now they're both my "quick trip cigars" when time might get crunched a tad.  Keepers

I acquired a box this weekend and I have to say, they’re a good little quirk smoke. I agree they should come in a 50 can. If it did they might become a daily smoke.
