Dinner at The Publican. Drinks to ring in the new year at The Violet Hour. Hopefully a cigar or two before while watching bowl games. If not, then a cigar New Years day--likely a Fundy or something

In bed solidly asleep by 10pm, earlier if I pass out from a few strong drinks.  Why end a tradition?  Cigar time the following morning :)

Thats the spirit. Happy New Year 😎🌴

NYE we’re having a Florentine Porterhouse with a bottle of 2001 Barolo from Serralunga d’Alba. Trinidad Fundadores for that quiet time after the stroke of midnight. Bottle of Dom Perignon 2012 Champers with friends for NYD.

It’s been a tough year in Shanghai with interminable COVID lockdowns. At long last, that appears to be behind us as China reopens on January 8. We’re going to party ‘like it’s 1999’!

sounds like a great night, congrats

During the day on NYE I am off to the horse races with mates to watch a 2yo colt we have a share in run its first race - city meet at Moonee Valley Race 1. It looks like a good chance too. If it wins we'll be celebrating into the night with pockets full of folding money like wannabe rock stars. Ha ha! Best break out the money clip. It's out of the mare Double Dee, so we named it after George's Dad's man bra invention in Seinfeld - Mansiere. Perfect choice for a bunch of middle aged men with man boobs! 😃

Boston is not a late night locale.  Finding something to occupy us until midnight is not easy task if going out.  Food options will end hours before the New Year.  Elys and I talked on going for sushi, picking up a Tomahawk steak at the store, maybe Indian takeaway...  Not sure what we'll do.

A regular tradition is drinking a wine that ends in the next year's last number.  For this NYE being a 3, I am thinking vintage port.  1963 in particular.  I have plenty of choices for that vintage.  If friends were coming by, I'd open a tregnum of '63 Dow, but that's overkill for just us.  I hope to open at least one '63 tregnum this year.

Usually don't make it up that late at the best of times. Like @Monterey probably before 22:00.

Typical tradition is Chinese take out.

If I am still going strong after that: Sir Winnie '17 with an Irish mule - otherwise it will be for the next day

On NYE, to bed early, probably by 10:30.

On NY, wake up around 6 AM and head downtown to watch the Mummers Parade.  Warm ourselves up with some Pho at lunch and eventually make it down to 2 Street for the afterparty and hit up my buddy's bar at Mifflin.

We're going big this year compared to the last 2 😁 - dinner at PF Changs and an after dinner BPC at home before passing out on my chair around 10.  Our friends are hosting their annual party tonight because too many of us fell asleep before midnight, including the hosts 🤣

New Year’s Day we’ll head out on the water. Buddy just got a Hinckley, so I’m excited to cruise around on that for a few hours. Dinner with friends following the boat. Likely many bottles of champagne…

That must be incredible.  One of my favorite boats; wow!  Post a pic if you can!

Prix fixe dinner downtown overlooking fountain square where they do an outdoor celebration/countdown. Late enough reservations to watch from the warm indoors. Beautiful weather forecasted for the 1st so I’ll have a cigar then.

30 direct family members altogether since lunch going through wine, drinks, etc till late night. Dinner will be roasted baby lamb and lobsters. I think I will light up a Monte Sublimes I have set aside. I’ll report back tomorrow!

Simple evening planned at home with the bride. Most looking forward to having an Esplendido, some caviar on kettle chips and washing it all down with Pol Roger.

Happy New Year all!

You nailed it! Laughed when I read this. I already have my caviar, creme fraiche, and potato chips ready. Also a very very good likelihood I’ll opt for an Esplendido and pop a 2013 PR Winston. Cheers!

I've never been one to see the hype over new years day. I'll probably cook some supper and be in the bed by 10 . Besides this one stoplight town I live in isn't known for its party scene. I have to drive 45 minutes one way just to find something open after 9pm.

The plan is to watch a great fireworks show in Provincetown early evening and go to a nice restaurant with friends. If the rain stops us we’ll stay home and eat well. I met my wife on new years eve and we always enjoy the aniversary.

First New Year’s party in five years back home in Germany. Small party with our little kids at my parents place.

12:05 I’ll be outside for a smoke!

Cheers!
