Popular Post ayedfy Posted December 29, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2022 Busy festive period means I’m settling in for my first Christmas cigar on day 5. Still 7 days of Christmas left folks - let’s keep this party going! Bolivar Petit Corona. 42x5.125. Year unknown, single purchased mid-late 2022. Opening third: rich complexity right off the bat. Savoury Yorkshire pudding, sweetened espresso, hint of passionfruit tart, and a soft tropical fruit note (mango just entering ripeness). There’s much more going on than written but I received a phone call that put my tasting on hold. Draw is very easy, although burn needs a few corrections. Middle third: the toasted bread-like note becoming more prominent amongst the smorgasbord here; transforming from the Yorkshire pudding to something like a buttery, brioche French toast. Brief lull in body down to medium around halfway, quite possibly user error and/or environmental factors since the cigar went out around this point and needed a relight. Dry wood and leathery notes gradually enter and move forward, tempering (and occasionally masking) some of that earlier sweet/savoury profile. Final third: creaminess developing as we head into the final act. There's a gentle revival of the sweetness from fruit (the passionfruit again) and a new burnt caramel character, but the cream feels distinct from that, more of a luscious dollop of double cream. Leather and wood have dropped off now, and the body has kicked back to full. Finishing on a savoury character I picked up at the beginning, initially hard to place but this time taking shape as salted beer nuts. I’ve had a number of Bolivars in the past, but this is the first Boli PC I’ve had, and I get the hype. More satisfying that my experiences of the regular production larger format Bolivars. A strong contender for my next box purchase; very pleasant smoke, and still lasted over an hour. 91/100 9
SCgarman Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Wow. You must be an English man. Yorkshire pudding? Not something we Americans are familiar with! Interesting tasting notes and descriptions. While I have smoked many and have a box in my cabinet my tasting notes are much more simplistic. Nice review. I find them much more flavorful on the younger side. My 12 year old box has started to fizzle out and become bland. 1

14eyes Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Classic bolivar flavor, nice little cigar. I think I would prefer a reyes or h upmann half corona though
